I don't know what happened, but out of nowhere the images in FireFox are showing up just a tad bit larger. They are just enough bigger to look a little odd, and overlap some other pictures if they are placed too close by. I have no clue what caused this problem, but it just started it tonight.

Has anybody else had an issue similar to this? I'm not sure if it's a FireFox error, if some properties got changed somehow, or if I have some sort of spyware. I noticed this after looking at a few myspace profiles, so I don't know if it could be from spyware but I just ran a check on both Spybot and AdAware, only had negligible items in AdAware, (still deleted them), and one thing in my FireFox cookies, removed that too.

My computer also seems to be running slower, like something is on in the background. It's mostly because of this I'm suspecting spyware, but AdAware and Spybot almost always catch any spyware I have, could this be something else? I'm also suspecting it can just be a simple glitch with FireFox, seems like with each update FireFox coding is getting as sloppy as Internet Explorer's. FireFox has never been as fast as it was in its early beta days, so I'm wondering if maybe the most recent update has some bad coding they need to fix.

Really have no clue what to do, anybody else having this problem?

Is it all sites, or just CannCom and Myspace? Have you compared the sites side by side with IE? I run Firefox and haven't noticed what you are describing. What is your OS?

More info = better troubleshooting...

It doesn't seem like slow web traffic, but my computer just seems to be running slower, kinda like when ZoneAlarm is running it's virus scanner in the background, however, it doesn't say it is running it and I restarted my computer and it's still running slow and the pictures are still oversized. That, by the way, only seems to be affecting FireFox, the images look fine in IE.

I have Windows XP Service Pack 2 by the way, haven't installed anything recently, but I did get a FireFox update I think last night or the night before, but like I said, I only noticed these issues tonight after viewing some myspace profiles. It started slowing down after I opened a lot of people's profiles, but this always happens as it's just cause it's loading a lot of stuff...but after I closed all the windows and closed out of firefox...it was still running slow. Not as slow as when I had all the pages open, but it seems like something is stuck running in the background.

I might try a 2nd restart, I haven't restarted since I ran Spybot so maybe this will help...I'll see...

Ok, 2nd restart and the images are still too big. I don't think it seems like my computer is running slow anymore, (at least riht now I don't notice anything), so we'll see. These over sized images are really annoying though. God damnit I wish I just had the money to buy a new PC lol

Here are some screen grabs to show you what I am looking at:

[attachment=o169540]
cannabis.com homepage (http://www.cannabis.com)

[attachment=o169541]
www.TeamXbox.com (http://www.teamxbox.com)

[attachment=o169542]
www.Reuters.com (http://www.reuters.com)

Notice how the images are just slightly too large and overextending the page, in the TeamXbox screen you can clearly tell the images are too large when you compare it to the way it should run (presumably on your own browser). It is supposed to have the main large picture, then below that 3 smaller pictures lined up across the width of the larger picture, however because they are showing up too large, the 3rd picture is pushed down another line in it's frame causing the site page to show up funky. Very weird.

Oh yea, I do think it might be a FireFox issue because I've noticed it seems to be mostly slower when switching between different tabs. I am addicted to using the tab feature, usually have at least 3 or 4 tabs open at a time, but when viewing myspace profiles I'll have many more opened up to view different profiles. In the past I have been noticing more problems when switching between tabs, many times I will click on a different tab but it will be stuck in the current page, after a few minutes it unlocks and switches back into the tab I clicked....if I click on a few different tabs while stuck, after getting unstuck it will still have those clicks in its memory, so will quickly switch back and forth to all the tabs I clicked in the order I clicked them while it was frozen....kinda something that used to happen a lot on older computers when they got stuck.

hope that made sense lol

I don't know what to tell you, I ran all 3 pages listed ^^^^ and they work perfect for me. I'm running XP SP 2 and the following version of Firefox:

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.11) Gecko/20071127 Firefox/2.0.0.11

I figured out what the problem was and so I'll post the fix in case anybody else is having the same problem and needs help.

I had the ImageZoom add on extension installed, this allows you to zoom images if you want directly on the web page. For some reason it was zooming all images just slightly, so I tried uninstalling it and voila, the pictures aren't zoomed anymore!

As for my computer running slow, I'm guessing maybe that was a separate issue with that spyware that was in my cookies, or maybe I was just over paranoid. Doesn't seem to be slow at all right now.

So as I suspected, it was just an error within FireFox....I guess the recent update didn't flow well with this extension, but I never use that extension anyway. Thanks for trying to help, next time I have a problem I'll have to remember to check to see if my extensions are causing the problem before running all my spyware programs lol

if you want to check for spyware and such a like

get

avg
and
spybot search and destroy

that'll clear them up nicely.

its worth noting as the year is coming to an end its alwyas worth doing a reinstall at least once a year to fix any broken directories and clear out any unwanted stuff.

computers need detox's too.

peace

I do need to do some cleaning up on my HD, it's not very big and I only have about 10 gigs of free space which isn't enough to run the defrag anymore. I really just need a bigger hard drive. Its good for now but I still want to stay virus and spyware free. I've heard AVG a lot, would that be better than ZoneAlarm? I've been using ZoneAlarm for my firewall for years, past couple years been using the Zone Alarm Security Suite because I need the anti-virus, however I'm not sure how well it works. It has never detected a single virus, and in 2 years time I'm either good at what I download or this thing doesn't catch shit...I'm thinking probably the latter lol.

I would probably keep ZoneAlarm as a firewall, I'm used to it, and I don't want to change, but I would be interested in a good anti-virus that doesn't hog resources like McAfee and Norton do

Microsoft has two free ones. Windows Defender and they also have their Malicious Software Removal Tool..and yes it is free
