How to dry and clean them shrooms?

My friend comes to me and says if you tell me how to clean and dry shrooms ill hook you up. I was like Ill let you know tonight. So how do you do this?

Lay them out somewhere dry? Some people use the oven, but I'm wary about that.

Somebody told me once that the slower they dry, the more potent they are. He said that since they're picked and losing moisture, they try to compensate by producing psilocybin, so the longer they're drying, the more psilocybin they make.

DON'T take that as fact, because it's just what I heard. Of course, don't rush the drying process anyway. You don't want crunchy shrooms that do jack shit.

What substrate were they picked from? Were they home grown?

Either way, use a razor and carefully comb over the surface (do not cut it in any way) and scrape away offending particles. To dry, use a fan for a day or two and then place it in a bag (paper, not plastic) with dessicant (silica gel) to get them cracker dry

Don't waste your time and money buying dessicant. There is no short cut. Air drying is the best Heat is BAD!!!!!
They don't keep produciing Psilicybin after they are picked.
I just pick them and put them on a bakers rack in my grow room in 2-3 days they ready to go. Of course this time of year the humidity is relativly low.
As far as cleaning just scrape the crap off. As far as drying them unless you're going to store them they don't need to be cracker dry. In fact the fresher the more potent, personally I prefer them kind of leathery, but its a matter of taste. Have fun and trip balls!!!!!!

No, it does not dramatically reduce the potency. Nobody on shroomery says that, I am a member there and have yet to hear that 50% figure.

Dessicant helps them become cracker dry, but is very slow. I use fans/open air to dry mine out and store them in a bag with dessicant until I eat them. Might as well dry the last bits of water out of them while sitting around

Rap's right. Drying reduces the potency, but not near 50%.
I dry mine cracker dry but only when I'm storing them (just a matter of taste)
the best method of storing I've found is to seal them in a jar cracker dry and crushed to dust with dry ice to remove all the O2 and then I put them in the freezer. I haven't had any noticable reduction in potency yet.

I'd freeze them before I dried them and store the fresh frozen mushrooms in the freezer along with freshly picked weed. When they freeze the water expands and helps to break down the cell walls of the plant material while preserving the chemicals.
Either that or freeze dry them.

If you leave them wrapped up in paper towel that allows water to escape and leave them in the freezer for along time they will dry out frozen.

And you should store all your volatile chemicals, petroleum ether, diethyl ether, methanol, acetone, ect. In the refrigerator to keep them cool and fresh keeping the fumes down.

Remember though pslicobin is only one of the psychoactive chemicals in mushies.

Clean the ends off...
Put the shrooms on a plate in front of a fan for a day.
Put in a closed container containing damp=rid or some other dessicant.
Leave them there for a day.
They are now probably cracker dry:)

I have never noticed a loss what so ever in potency by drying the mushrooms.

There ya have it:)
Just eat them or make a tea.

It's very, very easy. I've been growing for about a year. Its as much fun to grow them as it is to eat them!!!!!!!!

YA THAT QUESTION AND ALSO I WAS READING ABOUT PUTTING THE RICE AND EVERYTHIGN IN THE JAR TO GROW AND YOU TAKE IT OUT AS SOON AT ITS ALL COVERED IN WHITE AND SOME SHROOM HEADS START TO POP UP ON THE SIDES, BUT THAT DO YOU DO AFTER THAT??? HOW DO YOU ACTUALLY PLANT THEM??

It's more of a sporadic effort. You need to commit a bit of time at the beginning, the middle, and the end. However, the times between require maybe like 5 minutes of observation. After you inoculate your jars, the mycelium will take a few weeks to expand, requiring no effort on your part. After you mov the mycelium into the fruiting chamber, you just need to fan/mist them a few times a day and they'll grow

It actually takes very little time, I work 12 hour shifts and spend far more time on my grass than on my shrooms. The hard part is leaving them alone to do their thing. :D :p

well i think i will give the shrooming a try. but it will be a few months yet i think. gonna partake in tripping some first of all .

For a very long time, after a few years the potency will drop, how fast is all depending on how you kept them.
