I just saw the infomercial for the aerogarden and thought to myself, why couldn't this work for weed? I called their customer service and they said the light only raises up about 20 inches. I guess it's a mixture of using aeroponics and hydroponics, but I only know the basic info anyway about that stuff. Has anyone else thought about trying this because it's only $150 and works pretty well for other plants.

Why, yes! Yes, we have. Repeatedly, in fact.

My friend has one of these that he got for his birthday this past summer. I've seen it in action, and while it works wonders with basil and cherry tomatoes (the two things he's tried growing thus far) I don't think it is big enough or really produces enough light to grow cannabis. I'd not bother with the AeroGarden kit unless you really just want fresh cooking herbs year round.

I came up with this idea about 4 years ago and everyone I took it too said, "not to many poeple with money are stoners". My design is even more efficant, more decorative and could be cheaper. Damn the man and his skevey stoner comments, I could be a zillionar with all the ideas I had that people later became rich off of.

The idea would be simply to scale it up for cannabis, and create a 'grow-pod' that took into account the photoperiod sensitivity of the genus...
Have ya seen the BC Producer and BloomBox? :D

what about strictly growing clones in one?
would that work effectively?

It's an awful expensive way to clone, when for $30 you can get a plastic prop dome, a case of rapidrooters, a bottle of dip-n-grow, and a crappy desk lamp with a small flouro bulb.

Hummm.. I think this system could be fun if used correctly. Im thinking for those with little space and want to go discreetly (Growing cannabis indoors always has the habit of looking much more incriminating than it actually is.) but maybe somewhere near a discreet window or out door patio, just throw in some feminised low-rider. You wont have to worry bout the photo period and by the sounds of it, it comes with some useful functions that would cost and arm and a leg when setting up any grow room. With some careful bending and with the possibility of outdoor light, i think this could work. As long as you donâ??t rely on the insufficiently small bulbs to flower with. Would be near impossible to detect, in the long run would not cost much to keep running, easy to move, doesnâ??t take much space. As long as youâ??re a irregular smoker this could keep you happy in a small space.
