super groups are generally bad, shows youhow good bands are normally greater than the sum of their parts, super groups are normally less than the sum of their parts

One could also argue the original bands themselves are supergroup. Example would be Led Zeppelin, who while I hate that band with a passion, Plante, Page, Jones and Bohman are easily in the top tier of their craft.
