how come the forums on people saying they like the new front page get closed ?

Not sure if I'm clear on what you're asking. You mean "the posts"? I only see one post that's been closed, and I suspect the reason is because Sundance has a poll up in Feedback and Suggestions asking for input on the new front page there, so he wants to funnel all incoming input through that poll instead of having scattered feedback in other places.
