Is there such a thing as genuine happiness? It feels like ive been smoking so long i cant remember the last time i was truly happy without the aid of drugs. Its kind of fucked up, it seems most people can find happiness in ordinary simple things. those same simple things dont seem to affect me either way. I dont know if its just me but i feel indifferent to the things that should be brining me happiness, its kinda scary.
Ive been thinking that all the weed, although it makes me happy when im high it dosent really do anything to better my life. Ive been wanting to take a break for some time now but i just get so bored that it gets to the point that the only thing i want to do is smoke up; so i do. Is the only way to find true happiness through cold turkey and simultanious hope that one day i will be able to be 'normal'??
Does weed actually make any of you guys happy, or does it just get you high and numb you from a harsh reality?

Well... i think most things that make common people happy (or sad) are a bit illusory somehow... then when we start to smoke we realize the illusion, the unimportance of the things... we realize that things that used to be great or important are not so great and not so important... and so we dont feel them the same way we did before smoking...
But smoking never fails to make me happy... when i high i enjoy life more, so the simple things (like a sunny day, a good meal, etc) are enough for make me happy... and even the simple fact of being high is enough for make me happy... :stoned::jointsmile:

its pretty shitty isnt it? reality can really bring you down sometimes. i wish i could still live in my imaginary world where everything was super spice and everything nice.
I think any substance is a temporary escape from whats really going on. And thats why ALOT of us tend to over indulge. Were fucked anyway so just hop on the addiction bandwagon and lets get on with it!

I think the way to happiness is occupying yourself with something you like to do, Metaphor. By that I mean in the way of a job or hobby. Then to have good relationships, too. Sounds like you're almost using weed to numb out, and that's not the route to happiness.
To be honest, I think the concept of "happiness" itself is unrealistic anyway. I mean, no one's perfectly happy and blissful all the time, and I'm not sure we're meant to be. I do think it helps to feel like we have a reason to live, and then I think folks who're feeling basically good about themselves can exist in a place where they find happiness and fulfillment in what they're doing, who they're interacting with, and in little stuff like sunsets or pets or cars or books or whatever. Weed makes a nice complement to the little things for people who're using it as an "enhancer" rather than seeking a way to numb out on feelings of all kinds. Cannabis certainly isn't the beginning of the happiness supply chain. It's really just a tiny little link along the way.

Coehlho hit the nail on the head on that one...
Pot definately helps me appreciate things on a different level....like he said...sunny days....even rainy days...nature in general....music....art....
I agree with you...im not into things i used to do....but I used to watch tv and play a lot of video games..which are basically useless for mind and body. These days id rather take my guitar to a field in the mountains on a beautiful day and write music.....its better energy and brings my spirits up....probably good for emotional well being.....
and if im inside smokin...i lsten to awesome music...research new things and get smarter somewhat.
So they are right in their sense...pot doesnt get u anywhere because it puts a hold on the machine...look at it this way...you are a gear in the machine and smoking pot makes you a rusty gear in the machine....when your goal is becoming to get the fuck out of the machine

Marijuana helps totakes away, for me at least, some of the veils that prevent better degrees of perception. It also helps with many aspets of creativity. Moderate, or small, doses are usually sufficient - you don't need to smoke large amounts to reap benefits from it.
