Hey all
ok, so a few friends an i had the good idea of makin a bong outta a glass bottle instead of a plastic one. The pro's are that the glass is more durable, doesn't warp if it gets hot, and it just looks so much better!
So i went out last week and spent bout $20 on glass drills only to find that any bottle we drill into bursts, shatters or just chips to shit. Now, i'm a student. So cash is hard to come by, an here in south africa $20 is 2 shifts of work. So i'm a lil pissed that i spent the cash and its not working.
Can anyone help here, give advice on how i should be drilling, or if i should be looking out for a specific shaped bottle?
Come to think of it, has anyone ever made there own glass bong?

Drill under water, I've heard that keeps the glass from breaking, just be really careful.

I need to drill into a glass tube myself... but I'm worried that it will crack. Still trying to find a good solution.

high rpm, very very very very very little pressure would be my guess

Don't put any pressure on it since you're only scratching through the glass, not actually cutting through it.

If you have a torch you could use it to heat a metal tube ending hot enough to cause the glass to melt where you need it to without requiring any drilling at all
As little pressure as possible, and do it in the sink (etc) so that the surface to be drilled is just under water. Bits that are designed to handle glass generate a LOT of heat, so you have to keep water moving over it to keep the glass from cracking from the bit itself. Glass bits also generate a lot of glass particles in the air, which you really do not want to inhale, and drilling underwater should contain most of them.
If you're really worried, you should go pick up some random glass bottles and practice a few times. Keep in mind that any seams/bends/etc in the glass will probably be weaker spots less able to handle stress.

drill underwater, and buy some small masonry and tile bits instead of the glass cutting kind. i have found that they work better. hope this helped!!!!

That $20 and maybe a little more money could have bought you a real bong

drill under water. Preferable hot water. Watch out with the electricity

How about you buy a bong, instead of spending money of supplies to make your own.

My thoughts exactly
How about you buy a bong, instead of spending money of supplies to make your own.
