Im just curious if anyone had tried out this piece yet?

It seems pretty nice but the price is a little to high and it leaks a little when tilted to push the water to the other side of the bong.

From what I seen, the gravity vortex is about $90 - $100 bucks.

I saw it in a cannabis cup video, looks pretty neat I wouldn't mind giving it a try.

If you like gravity bongs but you don't like having buckets and cut open pop bottles and sockets laying around everywhere this is an awesome, clean, compact, and portable solution. Whether or not its worth $100 is up to you.

The Bukket is much cheaper and more compact.

Damn it's only $100!? I expected to see a much higher price tag on it. I may actually get one now.

Do they always leak when tilted though? Or is it just if you tilt it wrong? I saw a video on youtube and the guy got water everywhere with it, but in the other videos it seemed to work fine.

its a waterfall bong that has a downpipe to also make it water-filtered, and has a chamber to hold the water that is poured out. you can make your own version by putting two 2-liters together at their mouths, and put a valve between them. Cut a hole in the bottom of one of the two-liters (and not in the center) to put your downstem into, and cut a smaller hole on the side and near the top of the other two-liter to use as a carb.

A couple of us have these around here, I baught 2 for $120 when they first came out. If I can remember out of like 3-4 of us 2 liked em and 2 of use did not, I sold mine, one bran new. I thought the tast was very lacking, and for the price you could get somthing glass and a very good smoking experiance. Alot of us, have conclded these are just novelty smoking devices.

Just bought one two weeks ago! Been meaning to post some pics I have. I was going to order off their site but one of the local headshops happened to have two in. I got the Blue 14 inch one.

It hits like a champ! I named him Sir Isaac

I was just wondering, if you have experience any leaks while tilting the bong back and forth?

seems like a massive waste of money to me... sorry.. but i mean... shit... even asking 20 for it (like other acrylic peices it's size) would be a damn good profit.... but 100??? you know until this moment, i though the volcano was the most ridiculously over priced peice i've seen in my days..... it just lost it's title.... on a massive scale...

atleast the volcano had some things on it's side for being so expensive... i mean it is one of the most elite peices in it's class.... it also relies on electric currents rather then good ol' lung power to work, of course upping the cost....

I agree with you on that, I think this piece is way over priced.

On occasion I might get a single drip out the mouth piece when filling the top chamber after a hit but nothing much at all.

I agree that the piece is expensive but I already have a sizable collection of pieces, glass included, but nothing like this. It is easy to use, gets you straight fucked, and a lot of fun in groups because nobody has much experience using them. And to say that they are novelty smoking devices is way off the mark. It is just as legitimate a smoking device as any bong or pipe.

Not that awards mean everything but winning the 2006 Best Product at the Cannabis Cup should speak to its quality

The Gravity Vortex

Often referred to as simply the Vortex, the Gravity Vortex is about the best thing to happen to the frat party since the invention of the hairy buffalo. What it lacks in refinement, because it's not made of glass, it makes up for in spades in durability and portability. Made of super-strong poly carbonate (no mere plastic - this is the stuff from which Nalgene water bottle are made), the Vortex can withstand tremendous pressure without breaking. Although not recommended, you could throw it across a concrete parking lot or drop it from a window without doing much damage.

Like the Gravitron, the Vortex is available in two different sizes and a variety of colors. The large unit is available in blue and green, the small in pink. At about $90, the California-made Vortex is a value based on simply its durability and longevity.

One of the most common questions asked of Davyd Field, inventor of Gravity Vortex and owner of the company is, 'Can you make these out of glass?'

"Of course I could. But if I made it out of glass, it would sell for $500," said Field. "I view this as the ultimate dorm room piece," he said.

Building a decent gravity bong is often more trouble than it is worth. The Gravity VORTEX solves the dilemma with an all-in-one water pipe that does all the work for you. This party-pleasing pipe uses gravity to pull the smoke through the water and into a second chamber. All you have to do is inhale the cooled smoke and pack another. Always an attention grabber, the Gravity VORTEX will surely pull you into its orbit.

SKUNK and High Times both gave it positive reviews, and it did win second place in the 2006 Cannabis Cup Products category. I haven't seen the Cannabis Culture magazine review of it.

If I ever try it, I'll post the results.

I think it defeats the whole purpose of a g bong, what i like about gravity bongs is that they push the smoke into your lungs, i would get that bukket thing, but I could just as easily spend a dollar buying a coke and get a nice tasty beverage out of the deal.

its only getting these rewards and reviews because its a way to actually market and sell a waterfall bong (which normally is something that anybody can make with a bottle and a knife, and let the water fall into the sink or something). They housed the falling water and kept it in the piece. I agree with others. They will never see my $100. Just not worth it.
You really will get the same smoke if you put a downstem into a 2-liter bottle, filled it with water, put a packed bowl in there, light, and then cut a hole in the bottom for the water to come out and light, therefore making it pull smoke in.
I'll pay for a nice glass piece seeing as how I just can't match the quality of smoking using every day household equipment.

Hey everyone. Love the chat you have goin. Sorry to you guys who do not see the value in the Gravity VORTEX. It is made of poly carbonate, not acrillic, and is virtually unbreakable. One dropped glass piece broken already pays for the VORTEX investment. We also sell a 2foot version as well, which I dont think you can find a 2-liter bottle big enough to make at home.

Yes, we have won awards from all over the world, and High Times and Skunk love us. We have sold many thousands of these and the demand continues to grow. Take it from me, a VORTEX should NOT be the only piece you own, but when you are in the mood to get shit canned and play video games or watch a movie, it is a great option to have.

Check out our website if you dont know how it works.

Broke my RooR last night and went bong shopping today and bought one of these mother fuckers. If your REALLY careful they dont leak any water at all and it is the most economic way to smoke. I usually smoke 4 grams a day and with the Vortex i probably smoke 2.5 and get the same effects. Pays for itself if your a heavy smoker. itll pay itself off for me in about 4 weeks.

Hi all, yep... I got this Gravity Vortex pipe too. It is great. Only had it a few weeks now, and I can see why people say it might get grimmy, but it hits like a champs. Seriously, HUGE rips from a plastic gravity bong. And it is strong and sturdy with a quality glass part to some from.

I like this thing and paid $90 for it in SC. Very happy with the purchase and no one has seen anything like it in SC. It is a real hit to be able to show something new at a party.

I guess the comapny is making new glass pipes now. I saw a post online about a new style LED bong with lights.... anbody have any info? Ever seen or triend one of the new glass bongs from the Vortex company?? Thgouths?
