Well, it's that time of the year for that weird and fatttening concoction known as eggnog. I don't know if eggnog is popular outside of the U.S. but if not, it is this drink made from eggs, cream, milk, sugar, and holiday flavors such as nutmeg, cinnamon, etc. It's like liquid custard. There are various recipes and various ways to make it like with raw egg or slightly cooked egg. Anyway, I find that it brings out a strong reaction in most people, either they love it or hate it. Vote away!
Please don't ruin this thread or make me have to put coal in your stocking by talking about how you like to spike your eggnog. Unless of course you have a way of spiking it with marijuana! God knows there's enough fat in it.

The only bad thing about eggnog is that it's not available year-round. :areindeer:

I love me some eggnog.
FBR~ I don't want to ruin the thread, but i would like to point out that I know some easter europeans who 'spike' eggnog just as a way of making it, even the kids and its not some big deal.

I tried it for the first time the other day while I was cooked off my ass.
I'm pretty sure that I didn't like it very much.

Flyguy, I understand what your saying, well before you said it; however, it is about respecting the website rules, not about cultural differences!
If you try to think of a recipe, think about pot chocolate and extracting the THC from the pot with the milk or cream. Let me know how it goes.
Mattsnotonfire, it is rich. Over the last few years there have been lighter versions available or lower calorie or lower fat versions available. No doubt it is rich though.

I like the taste pretty well, but the lactose kills me. Wonder if there's a way to make lactose-free eggnog? Or better yet, buy it? It's rich but it's good. Dave calls it Christmas-flavored Ensure.

it's not something i'd pick to drink... but if someone hands me a glass of it, i'll drink it... it ain't bad or anything...
i love it, but i feel like it's a holiday thing only. tastes different any other time. and i only drink it straight up. no rum needed.

I'm not into sweets, and I avoid really rich stuff, and I'm mildly lactose intolerant, and I know that I need to watch my cholesterol now that I'm gettin' old...
That being said, I LOVE EGGNOG!!!!!!
I dust fresh-grated nutmeg on top.
My neighbor and I used to buy a half gallon and give it to the bartender at our favorite crappy Chinese restaurant so we could sit there and sip eggnog during the long dark winter evenings. It goes badly with Chinese food but what the hell; both of us live in cold-ass uninsulated Victorian and pre-Victorian era houses and it's the coziest place in town to be on those chilly December nights when a big mug of eggnog is in order.
I love hot mulled cider as well.
