It seems like I am always wanting or doing something...I got a email from my friend in Texas..I would say he is probably my best friend in my lifetime..funny..I havent talked to him in almost a year..that is how friendships are sometimes..he lives in San Antonio and I want to go visit..
I have visited him before there..we had a blast..ended up driving over to the gulf of Mexico and going deep sea fishing..stayed on a boat for about 3 days..I remember the water was rough and me finally chumming the water...
They would anchor on oil rigs and we would fish from there..caught a whole bunch of fish..
Where was I, oh yeah, I wonder if I could incorporate San Antonio into the cross country drive that I have to do. It is so far into Texas, I dont know..You do go through Texas on the drive but only the northern tip..this thread really is about nothing, just me thinking.

I say make the detour and go to San Antonio to see your friend. Always take the friend detour.
One of the bad things about TX is it is damn big it takes forever to get anywhere. When I go to Colorado it takes me about 7 or 8 hours just to get out of the state and that always annoys me, I never feel like Im on vacation til Im out of the state, ykwim.
I really dig San Antonio, the Riverwalk has about as good people watching potential as you will ever get.

Texas is an Amazing state despite all the bad publicity and the stereotypes. If you do come to Texas you have to stop into Austin. It's the best city in the entire state and most of the country.

Off the top of my head, I would say it would be about a 10 hour drive if your are coming from the northern most part of the state.

Austin is probably the best city in Texas to have fun. But i prefer the small town apmospheres in places like Bandera, Marathon, Wimberly, Marble Falls,,,ect.. and you can still smoke in the bars in Texas.

Well we're talking about Texas.
Dallas, Tx. Home town. Cowboys-Packers tomorrow. The city should be bumpin'.
I always wanted to go to Cali. I think it's normal to think the grass is greener on the other side.

Definitely you need to come to Texas, Geo!
And while Oklahoma will forever be geographically to the north of here, nothing can ever top Texas. You already know that, I'm sure.

I think we just get a good laugh out of it. Wesmoked is right. You take issue with Sam Houston, who's been dead since the Civil War, when GWB is sitting in the White House? Whassup with that?

GWB is kinda like :beatdeadhorse:

Very true! But, then, so is Sam Houston. Only he's been dead--and beaten--a lot longer!

Yo its ALL about the ATX (Austin), the live music capital of the world (and you all know there is NOTHING better than live music while blazed). And while you're at it, take a trip to Houston, where you've got any professional sport you want to see, and plenty of fantastic Mexican food. Texas truly is a place any person must visit

You know, if you're coming through Texas (if you're coming from the west), you might as well stop in Arkansas. This time of year you have your choice of SEC Basketball or Football. Maybe, they'll host a tournament, and, you could see a bunch of different teams from around the nation. You can see a hook & roll, or, a pick & ladder. I'm just thinking here. Sorry, for wasting space and mixing up hook & pick.

Yes it is for a fact. Most people refer to it as Tex Mex. I actually like it better than regular Mexican for one reason they use flour tortillas which is a reminder of Indian flat bread.

Austin. Tex. Kush. I guess we are all entitled to our opinions I strongly do not agree with you but Iâ??m not going to argue with you because that would be stupid. I will say this though I have seen them in concert 7 times so far and havenâ??t seen anything blue grass about them. I have also met them and hung out with them twice and they are they are a great group of guys down to earth and not afraid to stand up for what they believe in. I would actually love for anyone reading this to check them out and give me their opinion. I havenâ??t met a weed smoker yet that didnâ??t like them unless it was some e insecure man that was just jealous. I have met one girl too that says she didnâ??t like them but that was just because they wouldnâ??t let her on the bus.
Otottoto you are so right. After discovering Cross Canadian Ragweed I was introduced to a message board that is dedicated to what we lovers refer to as Texas Red Dirt music. Not only is there some awesome music out there( if I just listed my favorites the list would be too long) it is going on all the time. My friends on the board tell me about the shows they see and I am so jealous I have threatened to move to Texas many times, lol.

My friends are telling me about the river floats all the time (except this past year when they werenâ??t so great) Iâ??m supposed to go out next year for a festival that is on the river and everyone floats. I canâ??t wait.

So id have to be a insecure man not to like a pussy ass bunch of kids who make crappy music so they call themselfs a "band"?
birdgirl73
11-30-2007, 05:46 AM
No, Austin. You're certainly entitled to your opinion. But it is being voiced in such harshly critical terms and with such fervence and disdain that you sound almost like you're displacing anger about something else entirely on a band. I think that's why your comments arouse a bit of suspicion.

My sister lived in Texas once. Wichita Falls, I think. She told me great stories about hiding in her closet, bathroom or basement with my nephew during tornadoes.
Me... I'm a California girl. Give me a good old fashioned earthquake any day!:p
birdgirl73
11-30-2007, 06:11 AM
I'm dying to feel an earthquake of some type just once. Preferably just a nice strong tremor rather than a cataclysmic force of destruction, obviously. Tornadoes are old hat here, just a seasonal adventure for us. But an earthquake seems, well, so exotic!!

I've actually only felt one. (I live in the mountains, so the rocks stop the waves.) I thought my washer was unbalanced because my couch was shaking. Then the news said it was an earthquake. It was very exciting!

Nonono, TexMex is actually its own category here. Theres TexMex, which is basically a more "Americanized" version of classic Mexican food. However theres also "real" Mexican food restaurants with actual Mexican food FROM Mexican culture. The first type gives you gas.... the second type makes you WISH you only had gas haha

Well considering the fact that they have been together for 13 years and are not kids ( I dont know where you get your info from) and are currently playing in big venues all over the USA , there must be many others out there that share my same opinion.
And Birdgirl is right if you had just come on here and said you had heard of them and didnt care for them then it would not have bothered me at all.
