I know Copper and Aluminium (:P) are bad for you, but is Brass? It's an alloy of Copper and Zinc, so does it give off the toxic fumes? Or does the Zinc increase the melting point, making it too hard to burn off fumes?

From what I've heard brass is perfectly safe. Right now my homemade bong has a brass downstem and bowl and it works great. I'd recommend it.

I've been smoking nothing but brass pipes for quite some time now and I've never heard anything bad about them. They wouldn't sell them if they were bad I wouldn't think.

There's all kinds of brass/bronze....some alloys have lead in them.

Usually, (on the good ones anyways) those are stainless steel, and will last longer than regular brass screens
