I'm not sure where this should go, but I think Spirituality is maybe the best bet.

Anyway, I'm in 10th grade, and I have a terribly shitty biology teacher. Mr. Richardson. The other day, I got in a huge fight with him over something that nobody should ever have to argue with anyone whose life is devoted to science--we argued creationism.

First, he started giving us a little spiel about how, as soon as a sperm cell and an egg cell meet, "that's you, that's a little baby." That pissed me off majorly, because I'm one of those pro-choicer baby-murdering motherfuckers. So I told him, "No, Mr. Richardson, actually you are wrong." It's about the ballsiest thing I've ever said to a teacher. I was very proud.

He started saying that as soon as those two cells are joined, that's life, and that's a baby. I argued that a sperm cell is life, and so is an egg cell. And that, in fact, any single cell is its own independent life, as he had taught us.

He didn't like that. Then we got into fetuses.

I recited all the characteristics of living things that he had given us to memorize. I pointed out that a zygote doesn't fulfill all of those functions, and neither does a fetus, nor does it become anywhere near an independent organism until the abortion cutoff.

So that brought GOD into the situation. He kept saying that "That's how nature meant for it to be," cleverly switching "god" for "nature." How clever. Except that he kept saying "god" by mistake, and then correcting himself and saying "nature."

I just gave up at that point, and, unsurprisingly, received a 65 on my participation grade, because that's the only thing he could deduct from without being corrected by hard, objective facts. (I've got like an 89 average in his class.) But to be fair, I shouldn't even have that. Aren't I always the one bringing in new class discussions, just like that one? I should get a fucking 100 for my participation grade, and this retard should be fired for teaching religion as science.

Um... discuss below?

He is your teacher, and you are his student, it is a matter of respect. It is not respectful to call a teacher out, in the middle of class. Perhaps you should, (outside of class) apologize for being disrespectful and ask to discuss the matter outside of class.

just my humble suggestion

There's nothing disrespectful about what you did. You need to stamp out ignorance at its core, that is the people teaching that sort of bullshit. I applaud what you did, and I know it must have taken a lot of guts. Even though you lost some points off your grade, 89 is still good, and you can feel even better about yourself that you exposed the teacher for what he is, a creationist fool.

What you did, I have no problem with. But, you didn't really expect to change this ignorant guy's dumbass opinion did you? You sound smart. Smart enough to know that you weren't going to change this guy's teaching method in the slightest even if you shot him in the leg. So, in it's real essense, the arguement was totally useless, and did nothing but hurt your grade. Next time, don't waste your time.

I learned something by being mildly intelligent and going to 'bad kid/stupid kid' school. Don't ever correct a teacher. All it'll do is piss them off and thereby get you a shitty grade. And they can almost always come up with an excuse for giving it to you.

Only a select few teachers deserve respect.
No matter how obvious a jackass a teacher is, no matter how much support you have from peers or other evidence what that teacher does is wrong it is very hard in most cases to call them out.
The best solution is to find out what car they drive and slash their tires. Just don't get caught.

Teachers are the one group of people I have encountered in my short 18 years on this planet who have angered and frustrated me more than any other.

I've been lucky in my schooling. Most of my teachers have been average, not good or bad, and some have been really good. I consider myself lucky that I never had a bad experience with a teacher.

yes, it is life.
maybe you were trying to discuss something else and you call it 'life'.
do you think you meant soul instead?
coz the two things are mixed; sometimes we say life and we want to say soul, or at least try to express what that concept might be.
I think the classroom is the place to teach and learn, I am a teacher so I think any discussion is welcome but if you enjoy talking to your teacher I see no problem that you go on with the discussion outside the clasroom :) if he is a real teacher he is also a student and he will like to discuss those things with you.
one thing is already very positive: you are making it "useful" going to classes; you are taking something out of the time you spend there, and what really matters about education is how it helps you making and building the big pyramid construction that will be... you

hey dude ive been having the same problem with my spanish teacher, i speak spanish and i got like a 97 in that class, i shouldnt be having problems in that class, but lately this teacher has been acting all ocd, add, and bipolar. in the beginning of the year we talked real cool and i even joked around with her that we were gonna get real wasted at a party, she was like maybe wen yur 18 and im not yur teacher nemore ill go with u, but now shes real mean, she got on to me for trying to draw a "picasso-style" picture about corrupt authority figures, she even called an administrator coz i told her that its a perfect subject for that assignment and i argued with her about it during class, now shes always giving me a mean look and just completely hating me, i feel bad coz i really like this teacher and the year is almost over but now shes all bitchy

id tell him that as soon as he has fed /clothed /sheltered /and educated the children we already have on this planet then we can talk about SOME limits on abortion but until that has been accomplished the subject should be off limits

Disagreement and debate are great excercises for open minds. Unfortunately, critical thinking and honest debate will not happen in 10th grade. Your grade will be better if you just memorize and spit back the pablum. Revenge is sweet when you turn out making 5 times his salary as an adult.

You will meet up with a only few very good teachers in your life. Let them know that they are appreciated.

Peace

I have many teachers with whom I do not share views with, For instance some of my teachers believe that "Nature" or "God" is a dictator. If someone replaces Nature for God It dsent really matter because they are just words describing an underlying truth, which you know for yourself and it is therefor better to pretend that you like him and ignore is ignorance of your "God".

Education is worth obtaining because then you will have "valid credentials". Think of it as being a con-artist. Just act like you respect your teacher in class and do your assignments nicely and neatly so that you look like a good law abiding citizen, because the school works directly with the police and they are looking to eliminate all marijuana users from aquiring college level degrees by being authoritive ass-holes. They act like jack-offs just to set you off into anger so that they can send you to the deans office in an ongoing game. Don't fall for teachers tricks.

Not to say that marijuana is good for your learning ability, listening skills, and cognition it's not, and DXM is definitly worse for your brain. But if you like to smoke a little weed now and again why should that make you a criminal, I ask? Everything in the corporate world is a scam anyway.

There is no doubt that the school that I attend has obtained some sort of bullshit warrent or rid of somekind and has hacked into my computer to look at everything, just as the webmaster of this page has my name, address and phone number, as does the Internet police. Big Brother watches, Big Brother likes security because it makes him safe enforce his policy, Big brother dosent like subversives or people who question and contradict authority. Say no to violence.
