I have polycsytic kidney disease and was diagnosed back in 1997.
I am a 20 year old female.

its genetic on my father's and his mother's side, and very prominent in the family (myself, my father, his mother, my cousins, aunts, uncles, etc) I'm looking for a way to help with chronic organ pain. I smoke on a daily basis and go through an oz. maybe in a week, faster if the pain is there daily. I have no idea what sets off my pain, or why i get it on some days and not on others. I've noticed a serious spike in the severity of my pain, i've had my kidney function tested, and numerous CT scans to look at all the cysts. I have a very large one on my right bottom lobe at approx 6x4x4inches with no enhancement or retention. It's strictly painful on the right, but last night i fell into the corner of an 8foot bookcase on my left side and had a lot of blood in my urine, and went to the er and they checked my urine and CT and said everything was fine. They always shoot me up with deladuine (sp?) and send me on my way, but it only lasts 2 hours tops, percocet doesn't work and niether does vicodin. I have an allergy to morphene and have no idea what my other options are. I don't smoke cigs, and i dont drink im pretty healthy and drink plenty of water, and have a pretty well balanced diet. I have seen my general doctor, who referred me to a urologist who then referred me to a nephrologist that i cannot see until January due to the limited amount of nephrologists in my state because of malpractice insurance being so high in price. I have no where to turn because i know that im smoking entirely too much in a short amount of time, and it barely happens to take the edge off of my pain. I guess my question is how can i maximize the length and potency of marijuana to take care of the pain? what are my options for pain management. I don't live in a state that has legal medical marijuana and I doubt I would be able to move due to my husband's job.

I have degenerative disc disease and used cannabis for pain management and have noticed that vaping and cooking works much better. Ingesting seems to work much better and longer then smoking for me. As far as Rx pain medications, I did have luck with a few one Avinza however it is a morphine based pain medication so prob. won't work for you, Oxycodone worked for me but I stopped use bc of dependence issues and side effects, a pain management dr could also do wonders for your pain. It took me a long time but I found a pain management dr who was great about my cannabis usage and wasn't all about just doping you up. In my experince they aren't that great at numbing dulling pain without serious or at least disrupting side effects.

But you should try making cannabutter or something and try ingesting it is a MUCH better form of relief for me and others I know.
