My cat Sushi died today, only 2 years old...she had some liver complication and couldn't fight it, it came so suddenly though which just leaves me in shock and despair. Worse though I could not be here; I was with family last night in Houston when my girlfriend called me to tell me she was taking Sushi to the emergency vet. They were trying to flush her system but her temperature kept dropping and she passed this morning.
I'm deeply troubled and feel like it was my fault, so many what ifs...what if I had realized she was sick a few days ago? What if I had taken her to the vet a month ago? 2 months ago? Everyone loved her, she was this tiny little thing, when we found her she had been stolen from her mother by another cat and she survived against all odds, slept every night curled up between me and my girlfriend and now we'll never see her big bright eyes again...
Anyway, many of you are cat owners and I hope for the best health for your furry friends, take care and thanks for listening...

ya man when i was 15 years old my dog who i had since i was like 6 years old died when i was out of town, that was one of the saddest days of my life, but sorry to hear that man.
right now you might think that another cat can't replace it, but in my opinion that is never true about an animal, i mean of course it won't be the same, but i think you should get a new kitten and raising it and taking care of it will help you a lot.

Real sorry about your kitty cat,, Homestar. I know they're like a member of our family. Sounds like you made her a loving home. Try not to be too hard on yourself, OK? May she rest in peace and comfort.

thanks for the kind words guys! I feel a bit better after sleeping, but things definitely aren't the same...Just keep thinking that she was so young, 2 years old, and for her size really strong...seriously she's the tiniest cat I've ever seen, at 2 years they're fully grown and she was still like...2 hands big. The runt of the litter ;)
Anyway, I really do appreciate the kind words, I know that she's happy wherever she is and hope that I'll see her again someday, a next life or another plane of existence or whatever!

yea its always sad to loose a pet; ive had many pets come and go over the years and even though they can never be 'replaced' you should probably get a new kitten. You have to remember the good times and realize shes gone forever. Know its not your fault and theres nothing you couldave done to save her. I think you should get a new cat, or maybe two and welcome them into your family the same way you did for sushi, im sure they will grow on you the same way he/she did.

dont worry about it man, ihad a cat named SEVEN and she died of liver damage as well. the vet told us it would cost $600-$2000 for him to try and help her with operations and that kind of stuff but we just didnt have the money so we had to put her down for $50

Oh, I'm so sorry for your loss... I can only imagine the pain... I really know what it's like to have those "What Ifs" because my aunt passed away this year, and I wasn't there for her for a year beforehand.
I understand somewhat, because of my Aunt. But what I learned from her passing was that everyone passes.
And I PERSONALLY KNOW that before any living creature passes, they are free from pain. Whatever Higher Power is out there wouldn't let an innocent kitty feel any pain.
Please know that your kitty will be there for you, and always look out for you.
I know my doggy will when he passes.
