new grow purple tops and blueberry

well this is my latest grow,i put some seeds in the dirt about 9 days ago,3 feminised purple tops and 9 of my old trusty blueberry from bagseed(never dissapoints)

so far 2 of the purple tops and 5 of my blueberry have sprouted,albeit at different times so they're all different sizes and i could still get more up,i intend to grow 5 plants as that's all i can fit so need 3 females out the blueberry

so here's a couple of pics of how it's looked over the last week,any comments welcome

my garden went well but i had to chop them down early,the pics below are some of the last pics i took of them,for a week after that there was a police helicopter flying round my area on a daily basis,even stopping above my plants,making me paranoid and having to make the decision of chopping early,still got some good bud mind,16 maybe 17 oz in all from the 3 plants,not bad for crappy summer we had in the uk

jerry,i aint sure whether to lst or not because the last time l did lst, 1 plant took up over half my space,so that'll depend on how many girls i get,i like to lst just as i start flowering with a single bend half way up main stem so no rush yet,if i get 5 females i'll just let them grow

this is the worst bit,they seem to grow so slow at 1st,and the end seems so far away,gets better when you switch 12/12,makes all the difference when you can see them growing daily

well a few days on and it looks like all the seeds that are going to sprout have done so and are all now in pots under the hps

the first few seeds to sprout are doing really well,hard to believe they're only 5-7 days older than the small ones,

i've been keeping the hps well above the plants this time 2 foot over the tops as opposed to the 12 inches i used to do in prior grows,so expected some stretching but have had none,i've never had plants with such tight nodes at this point,i will start to lower the light when they're all a little bigger,once i've sexed them they'll go into their big pots

well another 5 days on and things are looking really well,4 of them are on their 6th set of leaves now and the other 3 are on their 3rd set

gave the 4 big ones some quarter strength nutes (35-10-10) a few days ago and they look good for them

only problem i have is the usual heat issues i have every time i grow,but not too much of a problem,29 celcius is about as high as it gets,which is way better than previous grows,it is kinda hard venting the heat from a 400W hps out an area that is less than 20 cubic feet in size

the biggest ones have been under hps for 17 days now and are staying nice and tight,and i've even got some tiny pods forming between stem and branches,though they are ever so tiny

one of my small purple tops is growing weird though,it appears to have no growing top,the 1st set of true leaves appeared then as the 2nd set opened it became clear it is just 1 rertarded leaf,and the main stem has in effect become a leaf stem,it's feminised so i'll let her grow see what happens,i'll get a decent pic of her later

got some shots of the weird retarded plant,anyone ever seen anything like this??as you'll see in the pics the top of the plant has fused into 1 leaf and there's no growing top on it,though the main stem seems to be splitting,almost as though the top is still growing inside the stem,any help much appreciated

well my plants are still growing well,so much so that i had to repot some of them,could do with repotting them all really but haven't the space for that,i wanted to wait until they showed sex but the drainage holes on some were blocked by roots

so i repotted one of the purple tops even though it's small as they're feminised so that 1 will be staying in a big pot,then the 2 biggest most blocked ones have been repotted too,the rest i had to leave to fit them in,3 of my big plants have little pods at some nodes but no hairs as yet,maybe they'll start showing soon,they look a lot happier in the big pots don't you think??

well things are getting a little cramped so i changed them to 12/12 to try and find out what sex they are,and it seems i found my first female,the signs are tiny but with about 30x magnification it looks pretty clear,hopefully the rest will start to show soon too

few days on and all is still well,i now have 2 females so far which i have LST'ed a little,just to allow the lower branches into the light

on the downside,i think i may have found my first 2 males(see pics)and 1 of them is my supposedly feminized purple tops:mad:anyone else agree these are male?i'd really like to get them cut down if they are so i can get my other plants out the small pots they're in as they're getting really cramped,so some confirmation would be appreciated

i thought i'd be able to fit 5 plants in but now i'm not so sure,i can get 5 pots in but hadn't considered the width of the plants,so if i end up with less than 5 females i wont be too disappointed,also gave my 5 bigger plants some dilute nutes today,hope they can take it

was able to confirm those 2 as males so pulled them and put the plants in smaller pots into the big pots,both have now shown sex and i can confirm as females,i've tied the top of those down as well to let the branches in the light,just waiting to find the sex of 1 plant now,though it's a bit behind and started out retarded,but i'll leave it see what happens,
will post some pics later when i switch lights off

ok,last plant has shown sex and it's male so it's now the blueberry only grow,and those seeds were supposed to be feminised,just glad i didn't pay for them,could be a good thing though,it's starting to look rather cramped in there and they've only just started flowering,i expect them to get much bigger over the next 2-3 weeks

hydro,the retarded plant turned out male too so it's only blueberry left

jerry,i aint sure,think i burned them by adding nutes just a little too early,the 4th plant was still a bit small so i never gave it any and that's the one without damaged leaves

i gave them a little molasses today,don't know if they make much difference but anything is worth trying,the plant at the back left of the wardrobe is growing really well,you can see it towering over the others in the pics and it's getting taller and bushier every day,was considering bending the tops level with the next tallest plant but from past experience i find it just makes it bushier which i don't really want either so i'll let it grow and see what happens,hopefully i wont run out of vertical space,may raise the other pots so they're all level with it instead

things are styill growing well,my light is on a chain and currently 12 inches above the biggest plant,trouble is i'm having to raise the light by 2 chain links each day to maintain the 12 inch space,and i only have 8 links left on the chain,so if it carries on as it has been i'll be out of space in another 4 days!!but hopefully things will slow down a little
it's hard to believe the 1st pics in this post were taken less than a month ago when you see them now,damn i love the way weed grows,especially indoors

things are still growing fast,i had to move the light up another 2 links so only 6 left now,gave them some nutes today,mixture of 8-36-34 and 12-36-14
the leaves have started to get small and skinny on top and have started fusing into buds,so vertical growth should slow,or at least i hope so,the biggest plant has more than doubled in 2 weeks,there's even a few trichromes on show and it's starting to smell nice

got up this morning to turn lights on and the walls were wet with condensation and my humidity meter read 84%,not sure i can do much about it but i've tried leaving a little fan running in the wardrobe to get the air circulating but not sure it'll work as i close the wardrobe door and hang a blackout curtain over it to save any light leaks,i clipped it onto the reflector because it's the only space i have left

i also decided to raise some of the pots so the tops are level,2 of them are standind on top of 5 video cases and another on 7 video cases just to make them level with the tallest plant,looking back at my veg pics i really can't figure out why that 1 plant is massive compared to the rest,it was no bigger than 2 of the others

had to raise the light yet again,seriously running out of space above but if things continue as they have i'll remove the shelf in the top of the wardrobe which will give me another 10 - 12 inches i reckon,though it shouldn't come to that,i've grown in this space before successfully

and finally the tops of the plants have started looking like buds,still tiny small but looking like buds none the less,not bad for 2 weeks of 12/12

well leaving the fan running during dark didn't lower my humidity though it did stop the condensation gathering on the walls etc so hopefully that'll be enough,it's pretty cramped and not a very big space so i suppose there will be humidity as the plants perspire during dark,just hope it doesn't f**k things up! i've never had this many plants in my space at once

buds are looking better every day,soil is drying quite fast so i'm gonna have to water every 2 days,i'll do a plain water then one with nutes then plain then one with mollasses and carry on like that until sometime in week 6 when i'll switch to plain water for flushing

finally i had to raise my light again but only by 1 link this time so vertical growth may be slowing,got plenty budsites in the light now too

Atsar,

You have an excellent grow going there!!!

As for the humidity do you have ventalation fan to remove the heat? if so you can take that off the timer and have it run 24/0, that's how I have mine running. You need to maintain some kind of air exchange from outside the cabinet to get the moiture out at all times or on a humidistat. (not cheap)
As for hight restriction I would remove the shelf or you are going to need to tie them down, mine are 5 weeks into flower and stopped going up in the last week from what I see they will strech another 6'' to 10'', I put mine into flower when 12'' tall now they are close to 30'' tall.

i don't use a ventilation fan,just a 16" standard fan with a hose attached to the back drawing cold air from outside,which i sit in front of the wardrobe then close the doors onto it so during the light time i have a 4" gap in the doors,with the blades of the fan inside the doors

on a brighter note last night humidity only reached 62%,i've grown succesfully in there with similar humidity in the past so hope it'll be ok

i'll remove the shelf but only if totally necessary as it becomes just a box and not a very steady box at that,that shelf seems to strengthen it,plus the fact i'll need to rehang lights and put more foil tape up etc,i seem to remember worrying a lot 2 grows ago about height but all was good,plant reached almost 3 feet and fitted ok,with worse ventilation than i have now

been 17 days of 12/12 now and it's still looking good,plenty of buds in the light,the tallest plant is taking way more water than the rest,and with it being at the back with a raised pot in front of it i never noticed how dry it was,and a couple of leaves wilted at the bottom,no big deal though,only 2 leaves and she's perked right up since i watered her,she's now at the front left where i can keep an eye on her,and since rotating the plants i've actually found i could lower the light without damaging the big plant as she's not directly below the bulb

i've also added some co2 in there as well,just a bottle of sugary water with yeast in it sitting in my fan so it'll blow it straight into the plants,pretty crude really but i guess every little helps

day 23 since i switched to 12/12 and it looks like vertical growth has finally stopped or at least slowed,biggest plant is 32 inches tall from soil and 2 are 30 inches and the last 29 inches tall,all plants have plenty tops in the light which are filling out nicely

lost a few leaves from the bottoms of my plants but reckon it could be due to under watering as i had to go away for a few days and leave my plants in my girlfriend care,and all she did was switch lights on and off,no more,looking better for a watering

and finally i'm starting to see the trichromes coming and with the trichromes comes the fruity smell,always puts my mind at rest when it starts smelling like it's supposed to

i'm going to put pics in here as often as possible so they can be seen getting bigger and fattening up and i'll have something to look back on

i've noticed a couple of little things this time around,pale leaves in places some slightly yellowed etc,but for the first time i'm not worrying about it,did enough worrying on previous grows,hopefully sit back and chill and enjoy this grow

light has now been moved up as far as it'll go so may need to bend stems nearer the end of grow

so anyway it's now day 25 since i went 12/12 and here's how they look

did a little re-arranging today,i turned all the pots 180 degrees to see the backs of them and let more light through,i also changed the position of my light,appears i've had it set up wrong for my last 4 grows,i've now turned it 90 degrees so the bulb now goes across the narrowest part of the cab

i gave them some nutes today,low N and high P,K,i've also noticed particularly on 1 plant,the 1 in the first pic,she's looking pale,almost yellowing and the main stem isn't as thick as the rest,can't decide whether it needs N or maybe magnesium though i did give a dose of both recently,any ideas on that one would be more than welcome

today the biggest plant (front left) is 33 inches,smallest plant (back left) is 30 inches and the other 2 (right) are 32 inches from soil to tip

it tastes damn fine,this is my 5th time growing this strain and i've had a lot of success this far,did try another strain but as you see from the log they all turned out male,but stick with what you know heh,as for the pots,don't know how many gallons they are as such with us and uk gallons being different,so they're 13 litre buckets,you can calculate it into your gallons

back to the plants,i definately think they're a little nute burned so fresh water only still,i have quite a few leaves dropping and dying near the bottom of my plants but i'm not going to worry,they weren't getting much light anyway,reckon it may have been their time anyway,getting really cramped in there,looks like i'll be jam packed by the end

day 34 of 12/12 now,not too much longer to go now,buds are getting fatter and colas are filling out between the nodes,it's getting seriously cramped in there too,going to give them 1 more shot of nutes next time i water then it'll be plain water for flushing until they're done,think i have a little light burn on 1 plant so raised the light a little,sampled a bud from 1 and it's as tasty as always,i've got to the point now where i only need to keep them alive for 3 weeks and if things go bad before i can chop and still get good bud

day 43 of 12/12 and i've had a little glitch,i was rotating pots and took the small one out and it just fell over,main stem and branches all bent,seems it was the tight space that was holding it up,so that ones gone,was a runt anyway,branches were skinny,and not much bud,about half an ounce

but not to worry,it was such a runt you hardly even notice it's not there,the whole plant was less than most of the individual branches on my other girls and it's freed some space for light to get to sides of plants

gave them their last dose of nutes today,fresh water from here on in,hairs are starting to turn brown and trichrome production is amazing,smells amazing too

damn i thought this post was dead,i dropped my camera off my telescope and broke it,and the thread wasn't getting much intrest when i was adding regular pics so i didn't reckon on getting any without pics,
anyway because of the busted camera i have no later pics unfortunately,though i do have a new camera so will do a new log on my latest grow
but if anyone is still intrested,the early snapped runt gave a bit more than the half ounce i estimated,25 grams dried out,the next gave 119 grams dry,the third a little bigger still gave 132 grams dry and the last gave 172 grams dry so was a total of approximately 15 ounces in the end
