it doesn't work because the THC doesn't metabolize fast enough or something. Bottom line it won't get you high.

That is nasty shit. I just read an article in Cannabis Culture magazine about a stoner that got addicted to Marinol. It made him really loony. He ended up spending $3000 a month on it. He had to smoke weed anyway just to come down from it. He quit cold turkey, and got horrible withdrawals, cold sweats, and vomiting for months afterward. Marinol is the devil. Weed is god. Just smoke weed.

Read this, SRH. Marinol does convey some psychoactive effects, but it's a synthetic form of delta-9-THC, not whole cannabis with its other psychoactive and therapeutic components, and so it's not going to feel the same to anyone who uses it as regular smoked cannabis. In fact, it may feel worse. The THC is the compound in weed that can produce bad psychological effects (in some, anxiety and in some particularly vulnerable folks, delusions), whereas cannabidiol, the other main psychoactive component, is the stuff that helps quell anxiety and probably accounts for the mellow part of people's high. In marinol, you won't be getting any CBD, just synthetic THC, which metabolizes in the liver into other related THC compounds that can also cause or aggravate psychological responses. If you read through this NORML info carefully, you'll see that, for medical users, whole cannabis seems to have more therapeutic effect for many people. From what I've heard doctors say, Marinol is an option for people who can't or won't obtain the real stuff.

i've got a good ammount of expierence with it... and i'll tell you flat out... it's not worth the money it costs... it's extremely unreliable and unpredictable... factor that with a ridiculous cost (400+ dollars for a month long supply?) and it just becomes impractical.... look it up if you don't beleive me tho... it really is unreliable.. considering it's given as a last resort, you need something you know is going to work, and one time you may take what you're prescribed and get far more than relief out fo it, while the next day or even the previous day (to show tollernace isn't a factor in it's unreliability) you'll of taken the same ammount under the same exact conditions and got no effect, much less any relief out of it...

in all honesty, stick to the herb.... completely reliable and ontop of that, depending on the grade you deal in, much much cheaper... (it'd probbaly be about even if you bought the best of the best and wasn't smoking constantly...)

Sounds like my story when I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease, keep us updated with what they figure out it is exactly.

If you live in a medical marijuana state I would ask about getting a recommendation for that, if you are getting prescribed Marinol you can sure as hell get a medical marijuana recommendation...that is, if you are in a medical mary j state. If you are, I would still take the Marinol prescription just so you can use that for any drug tests at work. A medical marijuana recommendation won't get you out of having to pass an employer's drug test, but I've read a Marinol prescription will. You don't have to fill the prescription, just at least keep to pass those annoying drug tests ;) I don't have a Marinol prescription, but I hope when I see a new doctor he will be open to that idea. My job does random drug tests, so as you can imagine I have some anxiety issues which that alone doesn't help with Crohn's lol (the irony!)

Dudes,

I've been on Marinol for 2 years now, (doctor prescribed). I love it. Take a 10 mil, wait about 45 min. Then hit a jay 4 or 5 times, you get a nice relaxing buzz, kills the pain, last hours. Marinol has no CBN in it. Your brain need this to get the full reaction from the THC. I nornally don't smoke on it, only when I'm in real pain.
