You could make your own dough and sauce, get some cheese and quit bitching about things you cant control....probably would be better quality pizza as well, unless you cant make a simple dough recipe.
Yecchh, I hate outside food from all chain restaurants.

I like Papa Murphys. Just stick it in the frig and cook it for 18 minutes when you're ready.
I remember in 4th grade early 90's, our school of about 60 kids got pizza from the local pizza place. Fucking rocked. Every friday was pizza day. It was like a buck fifty for a slice.

I live in Northeastern PA where there is a pizza shop on every corner. Every one is different too. You can get "mall pizza", "New York style", "Chicago deep dish", "Old Forge style" and my favorite "fried Sicilian". As far as I'm concerned all the national chains suck ass and the frozen stuff isn't fit for human consumption. Have a sandwich.

There are even chain pizza franchises are in Brooklyn. I don't understand how they can make a profit, with all the great family-owned pizzerias turning out food that is infinitesimally better. Maybe it's because they're open later, are cheaper, or some people just don't care. I've eaten pizza from the chains a few times and survived, lol.
There is even a pizza bus tour of Brooklyn that visits some of the borough's famous pizza places, and also goes by some landmarks and historical sites. It departs from Manhattan. It's called "A Slice of Brooklyn". It is so named because we mostly order by the slice in Brooklyn, and the rest of New York City.

I can't have most pizza anymore, due to health reasons, but that that's another story for another time.

There is a Papa Johns around the corner from me. I'd say it is definately the best takeaway pizza I've had before...
Second is Dominos. Purely because they make their own dough and spin it fresh in front of you. Pizza Hut have their bases come ready made. IMO, Pizza Hut is disgusting. It is dripping with grese and fat and they spray the top with some sort of spray to make it look shiny, thus, more apetising apparently....

I do not just about any franchised pizza joint. My wife makes her fantastic homemade pizza...
Damn I'm hungry now... "Tis what I get for clicking on a pizza thread.
Has anyone ever tried Pizza EGGS? Use leftover pizza broken up really good, and add them to the scrambled eggs you are cooking. You can put in more cheese, eggs, bacon, whatever! For breakfast pizza eggs rocks.
Oh, and that is NOT an original idea. I got it from watching "Weeds", of which, I am sure they got from someone else, LOL...

Store-bought pizza NEVER enters my house! Pizza is EASY!!! Flour, a spoonful of yeast, a spoonful of sugar and water! Mix, let sit for a bit (how long depends on how you like your crust. I like thick crusts, so I let it rise.), knead it a bit, then roll it out. Rub the top with olive oil, then add the sauce. I make my own sauce, but any spaghetti sauce will do. Add toppings and bake! It really isn't that hard!
My eldest son attended a meeting recently and they had store-bought pizza among the foods offered- "Mom, it was AWFUL!" (and it was from a major chain, too). Give making your own a try some night and have it with exactly the right mix of toppings! - Granny

If you give me a proper recipe I promise I will make one tonight.
papa johns isnt that bad. it isnt the best, but it is better than pizza hut. all you need to do with pizza hut is eat some of the cheese seperate from the pizza. it tastes like rubber. when combined with the whole pizza, pizza hut isnt bad either. papa murphys is really really good but has a tendency to be too greasy, but i can take care of that. of course homemade is better. that takes time though. most food isnt that hard to cook. the fact is it is more convenient to make a call and sit there with a beer watching king of the hill waiting than it is to make your own pizza.

Walmart has some pretty good, ready to cook unfrozen pizzas. They are located near the deli, once cooked the plump up quite nice and are fairly cheap.

Since for many of you "cooking" is placing a frozen dinner in the oven, I'm going to go into great detail on how to make a pizza crust. The toppings are easy- and really, the crust isn't that hard after the first time! Any standard bread recipe will do, but here's 1/2 of a WWII cook book recipe that should work. I just picked it as one with the simplest ingredients. Some of the recipes are rather complicated- scalding the milk, etc. ( I like old cook books. :) )
3 cups flour (more or less- flours vary on how they absorb liquids)
1 TBS oil
3/4 tsp salt
2 tsp sugar
1 cup of warm water
1 packet of yeast
Making a sponge- In a bowl big enough to hold the flour, mix warm water, sugar, yeast and a handful of flour. Mix well. Let sit on top of the fridge or other warm spot for at least a half hour. This gives the yeast time to "wake up". (If you have fungus gnats or fruit flies, you might want to put a clean dish towel over the bowl. )
Making the dough-Add the oil and salt to the sponge, stir, then add the flour. You want the dough not to be sticky, but to make a ball that sticks together. Press it flat in the bowl, then fold it over. If it is sticky, add a bit more flour. Repeat this many times for the best quality. This is called kneading bread. Old cook books said to knead for 10 minutes, but one minute is enough! You should be seeing a "grain" to the dough as you fold it over.
Now, clean a space on the kitchen counter. While it is still wet, place a large sheet of foil on the counter and smooth it down. Sprinkle the foil with a handful of flour. Now plop the dough down on the foil and squish it flat. Sprinkle the dough with more flour. Get out a rolling pin (a can will work) and roll that baby flat! Sprinkle your pizza pan with a small bit of corn meal before placing the dough on it. Don't press the dough down! You want it to lie gently on the corn meal. (To clean up, just peel the foil off the counter and fold it up!)
Here's where you get to make a decision! Thin crust or thick? Either way, rub the top of the crust with olive oil. For a thin crust, top immediately and bake. For a thicker crust, top it, but let it sit and rise until it is about 3/4 as thick as you want it. (time depends on your room temperature- warmth speeds it up. Warm pizza sauce doesn't hurt either. ) Then bake at about 350 degrees. If your oven is like mine, turn the pizza about 5 minutes into baking to allow even cooking.
Toppings- Spaghetti sauce, cheeses + ?????? Have it exactly your way! My younger son makes his with huge, butter-fried, portabella mushrooms, multi-colored peppers, asiago cheese, red onion, pepperoni and Italian sausage! He uses a bought sauce and modifies it- I make my own starting with plain old tomato sauce. We both drain a small can of diced tomatoes to add to our sauce.
That same dough, if rolled into "golf balls", dipped in sesame, poppy or hemp seeds and let rise until doubled in size, makes fantastic dinner rolls. Or add a layer of dried chives and poultry flakes or Italian seasoning while kneading, and you've got fancy herb rolls- YUM! Double the recipe and you have a loaf of fresh white bread- "store bought" just don't make it compared to home made! Loaves incidentally take about an hour to bake. I usually just make "hamburger buns"- saves electricity, since they cook way faster! Also I could vary the size for the kids and the hubby! Have fun baking your pizza tonight! - Granny:hippy:

There's a smaller pizza chain called Vocelli Pizza near my house. It's really good. Apparently, they're only found in Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Florida. I get it EVERY night there is a Caps game on. Fuck Pizza Hut and Dominos.

VOCELLIS! I love their pizza. My sister's ex worked for Vocellis, and everytime he came over, he'd bring a couple pizzas...
If you're ever in Delaware, stop by a Grotto's pizza. Seriously. I live an hour and a half from the nearest one, and once a month, I drive to it, and eat their pizza. It is GREAT. I've had lots of different pizzas, but theirs is by far the BEST. Wow. AWESOME.
