Wondering if you can clone from clones and how often can this be done . Does it make them weaker ? please help:rastasmoke:

Yes, as many times as you like using proper technique, and no, it does not weaken them. Remember the OG Kush is a cut from a plant popped from seed about 20 years ago... :D

Least possible stress to clone and mother.
There's one example of good technique in that thread linked in my siggy.

i heard the more you clone a clone it depreciates in nug value/potency :rastasmoke:

If you take a clone, from a clone, from a clone, from a clone and not from the first clone then you are going to have a difference in the smoke as far as potency. The plant will produce glands, but they will be in smaller numbers than if you had made a mama out of the first clone, then cloned from her.

^^^This link is for anyone who still thinks that cloning off clones decreases their trich production. Look especially at the VERY old OGKush lines. There are a couple of them: Abusive, Ghost, and SFV are the classics. Look at post #21 on page 2. I grow that line myself. It is a true old-school ass whupper.

just a thing, 3rd generation clones are just as good if not better than first because you learn more each time. jmho

You are soooo, right! If they come from the mama.Yes,you learn each time with every strain.

Exactly.
Opie,
I just try to stay as close to original parent of whatever strain I may be involved with. That way I assure myself that this phenom won't happen to me... If you don't believe me,all ya gotta do is ask me! I'll tell ya..

Yes, please do. No (wo)man's experiences can be wrong. Sounds like this thread is a perfect place for the particular experiences you have in mind.

I can't prove this theory scientifically, but I can tell you that with growing a particular strain, when you grow further away from the parent plant. It will start to take on, it's own characteristics, that the original parent or parents did'nt have.Tolerence to heat and several types of stresses. In turn all this can lead to a decrease in yeild and quality.Did'nt mean for that statement to cause anyone a corinary.

It's true that there can be a failure of RNA repair at the cut site, so as with all things ganja, avoid stress and especially contamination of your rooting hormone.

I imagine it is possible for anyone to experience a difference from one generation to another. I know that there can be a wide difference in the way cuttings from the same mother end up. It is due mostly IMO to the way they develop in the first two weeks of their life. A big root mass in the beginning = a big healthy plant in the end, and vise versa. I suppose if you clone 20 each time, and take the worst one of the bunch, clone it, and keep doing that, after just a few generations your new mother would not be full of vigor like the original mother. That's why I like to take about 12 if possible, when I only need 8. Not because of mortality. I can't remember the last time one didn't make it. It's because I like to choose the ones with the biggest root masses.
You didn't cause me a coronary, and I certainly didn't mean to say that you were wrong. Like I said, your experiences cannot be wrong.

Opie,
That too,is a practice I follow. If I need 10,I take 15. I see you spelled it right. Coronary. My success rate for clones is high. It's been awhile since 1 has'nt made it.I've destroyed more than has not rooted. Humidity, humidity, humidity! That's a sure recipe for success rate.Me and you will never be on bad terms! You know well as I do that we as individual's have the right to opinion.I still think it is safe to say that it is HIGHLY possible then, huh? You still know your shit!
