Ok so I got a color changing bowl. One of my buddies was explaining to me that it worked by like vaporizing this shit inside the glass, which makes it change colors and then it changes back when it cools down. So if I clean it out, do you think it will clean out the color changing stuff too? Here's a picture for good measure:

The gold part changes to bright red.

nah it wont fuck it up. it won't take out what makes it change color, but it will take out most, if not all, of the color that has filled in so far

Umm, it changes while youre smoking, thats strange, ive only heard of bowls that change over time. And im pretty sure theres nothing on the inside of the pipe, somebody would get sued for that kinda shit.

from what i understand (pretty well infact) color changing glass is just normal glass with a slight gold/silver hue added, and as the pipe collects black resin, it brings out the colors better and makes it appear to change colors...
personally, i'd never waste the extra money on a true color changing peice... all th eones i've seen have been considerably more expensive... instead of like 15 for a glass spoon it's like 40-50 for a glass spoon....
my pipe appears to change colors too... it's base is clear, but it's got stripes of color mixed in that show up much better when it gets some resin in it....

Alright, I probably wont end up cleaning it anyway, I'll just smoke the res without taking it out.
EDIT: Well mine only cost 25 bucks, it was worth it IMO. It's pretty sick if I do say so myself. :)

you can clean it dude... it's completely safe to... though if you do it will go back towards looking new (less color to it) until it gets resinated up good again.

yea the only way to make a piece change colors is to let is get dirty.
there are some nice ones out there that dont cost that much, i got an awesome bat from a piece maker at the renaissance fair. he makes glass and metal pieces,
and theyre pretty damn solid compared to some of the flimsy shit in typical head shops its fallen onto the blacktop twice and only has a scuff to show for it
