Just wondering if theres any other metal heads on here, and when i say metal i don't mean Nu-Metal such as linkin park or korn or slipknot or dimmu burger or cradle of shit. Heres a few to give you an idea of what i mean by metal-
Arcturus, Borknagar, Emperor, Burzum and Mayem of course, Dark Funeral, Electric Wizard, Reverend Bizzare, Candlemass, Drudkh, Falkenbach, Windir, Judas Iscariot, Wolves In The Throne Room
Feel free to make suggestions for new bands, just no NU-METAL, that stuff sucks so hard

Dimmu Borgir is nice as well, they are definitely no Nu metal. Some songs of cradle are also nice.
Another few: Cannibal Corpse, Capharnaum, Calibre, Terror, 100 Demons, ...

Word Vader is great but screw Dimmu, first album storm blast was amazing, i wont deny that, but everything else turned gay. I don't mind bodoms first two albums, hate crew deathroll and follow the reeper but the stuff after that i hated, as for cradle of filth, they're mediocre at best.
I do not like or listen to metal core at all, bands like as i lay dying, otep, hatebreed, killswitch engage, caliban are horrible in my opinion, but it is music so to each his own. Aman Amarth are pretty good live and arch enemy are ok. Have you guys ever heard of a band called Naglfar? they put on an amazing show, did there first tour in the USA this summer with Dark Funeral
Personally, Black Metal, Doom/Folk/Viking, and some Progressive and some Symphonic Metals are my bread and butter. I don't really feel the whole metal core scene, to me it might as well be emo core

Naglfar is really good live, saw them only once. But it was a nice gig. What do you think about bands as Korpiklaani, Finntroll, Battlelore, etc.
Another one of my favourites is Manowar.
@Zebulon: You know what true metal is. The Polish heroes: Vader. Saw them this year at a festival.
Ever heard of At the Gates. Look for it. ChaosPotHeadNYC will probably like it. To me they are the founders of melodic death metal.
recommendations:
Black: Dark Funeral, Darkthrone, Marduk, Venom, Mayhem, Burzum ...
Death: At The Gates, Napalm Death, Vader, Amon Amarth, Arch Enemy, Children of Bodom, Amorphis, Death, ...
Melodic: Sonata Arctica, HammerFall, DragonForce, Stratovarius ...
Folk: Korpiklaani, Battlelore, Finntroll, Falkenbach, Falchion

Not so big a fan of Manowar, however i love korpiklanni, that one song they have, wooden pints off of Spirit Of The Forest is great, will deffinatly check out At The Gates.
Black: Dark Funeral, Darkthrone, Marduk, Venom, Mayhem, Burzum-Have em all
Folk: Korpiklaani, Battlelore, Finntroll, Falkenbach, Falchion-have em all, Have you heard of forfather or viikate? great bands
Have your heard dragonforces latest album Inhuman Rampage, i personally hated it, its like Ensiferiums New Album Victory Songs, it makes me sick. Are you into Windir at all? the remaining member's finally came out with an album, its called Attergangar By Cor Scorpii, pretty decent album.
I havn't really gotten that much into death metal, but it'll happen once i get an external harddrive, can't store any more music, listing online ain't the same as going out to a big park and just listening to it while drinking.

I would try listening to some Tyranny(Funeral Doom metal) or WormPhlegm(funeral drone/doom metal), and i would also recommend Make a Change....Kill Yourself, its pretty good stuff, one man project done by some chick from Denmark i believe
Currently listening to At The Gates first album The Red In The Sky Is Ours, it sounds pretty f*cking Good so far :chainsaw:

I'm quite a big Motorhead fan, one of the founding fathers of metal. If you've never heard of them, check out their most famous song "Overkill". It was released in 1979 and out-heavy's just about everything else of the day... not to mention delivering on 3 mindblowing solo's, each better than the last. Their later stuff is really great too, I'd recommend Overnight Sensation or 1916 in that category. Definately more metal-oriented the later you go.
Aside from that, I thoroughly enjoy Iron Maiden, Dark Tranquillity, Arch Enemy, Slayer, Megadeth, Metallica, Amon Amarth, Eluveitie, Insomnium, and Sepultura.
And I'm gonna second how ever many people said it before, Dimmu Borgir and Cradle of Filth are NOT Nu-Metal! If you don't like them that's fine, but they simply are what they are. NuMetal is Disturbed, Godsmack... I wish I could name more but I can't 'cause I really hate NuMetal!
(Well ok, Godsmack put on a good show when I saw them as the opener for Metallica. But when I checked out their music on CD their music was WEAK and lame)
motorheads most famous song is ace of spades

Yeah alright, that's pretty arguable. I was thinking from a fan's perspective, and Overkill is definately their big show-stopper.
(I never saw the big deal abou Ace of Spades)

Saw black dahlia murder this year, great gig. Lamb of God is not really metalcore, I think. Rather darkened death metal. like In Flames

woo metal, such as the likes of Strapping Young Lad, Pantera, Dillinger Escape Plan, Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Slayer, Meshuggah, Arch Enemy, Bongzilla, Lamb of God, The Sword, etc... do you consider Nothingface and Mushroomhead nu-metal, because I listen to them too:p... back in my early highschool days I used to listen to a lot of Black and death metal, as well as some nu-metal and "thrash".
I was a metalhead in the early eighties, still list to the old-school stuff, from Priest, and even the pop-like leppard occaisionally. I find that GWAR's "scumdogs" was the peak of the genre.
Nowadays I listen to "doom", like Electric Wizard, Bongzilla, or sheavy, high on fire, and other heavy riff stuff like that. I don't buy albums anymore, so I'm always trying to find anything that sounds good free on mp3, of course.
