Hello Everyone,

New member and long time outdoor grower here, always on the lookout for new ideas, methods, recipes. Mainly I'm looking for somewhere I can share my gardening adventures without risking someone getting jealous and ripping my plants.

That happened a to me a few years ago, so I stopped growing until I moved house. I started again 2 years ago in secrecy. I have a large yard, so first I planted a large vegetable garden.

After the neighbours became accustomed to me gardening, I screened the whole area off with reed screening and shade cloth to 'tidy up' the look of garden.

So it is secluded, easy to water and well lit and my neighbours curiosity is sated by a pumpkin, lettuce or a few tomatoes passed over the fence during the summer.

I also have two little dogs now, both with very big barks and remarkably sharp teeth. They sleep outside during the warm weather.

Thanks for the welcome illnillinois

Not only is it a great place to grow my plants Spongebob, it's a great spot to sit back and chill out in the evenings. The sun is getting a bit wicked (32 - 36 C) for the last two weeks and we still have a month before the summer solstice (which usually heralds the hot weather). And the constant supply of organic produce is a bonus.

Thanks for the welcome Granny, funny how growing pot seems to attract a lot of men. I know as many women who smoke as men, but rarely have I met a woman serious about growing on or offline. So it's very nice to meet you, we may even be of a similar generation, also a rarity online :hippy:

I was a bit uneasy registering when under locations there were different options for Aboriginal Australian and Australian. Ummm, we all ive in the same place, why do we need an ethnic breakdown? I was going to ask after I had posted, but realised it was a choice between the Koori flag and the European one.

Australia has a third nation flag, the Torres Strait Islands flag. Unlikely that anyone will sign up from the TSI, but they do have an equal claim to recognition as the indigenous people of this country, and they suffer much greater discrimination and hardship than most mainlanders.

The soap box is collapsible, I'll put it away now.
