in the middle of winter, when the surf is flat, it's too cold to garden or sail, your dog is sleeping, and you don't know anybody here, being a bit spoiled coming from San Diego a week ago? Oh yeah, and you're broke! Is Dismal Swamp worth checking out? Are there any other state parks? Somebody suggest something to do please!:confused:

I have moved to Virginia, several times since I was nineteen.
Seashore State Park is huge.

Sorry, I was eating pizza when I replied.
The Norfolk Botanical Gardens are nice, or so I heard.

I went to First Landing State Park with my dog yesterday...the bald cypress/spanish moss trail was pretty cool and eerie. Very thick-not used to that hehe. I don't play an instrument anymore beachguy-used to play the saxophone. Where are the botanical gardens? That's something I'd enjoy.

Seashore State Park is on the other side of Shore Dr. from First Landing State Park.
If you go up I-64 to the Norfolk Airport Exit (Norview Ave.- East), and, go straight through the light at N. Military Highway, about 1/4 mile down the road (the next light) there will be a sign, pointing to the right, for the Botanical Gardens.

Ah, thanks for the link bro. The one in San Diego has a small herb section on the east side; chocolate mint, pineapple mint, bubblegum dull (yuck)! hehe. This one here in Norfolk looks much more spread out. I'll check it out this weekend for sure. Maybe see you there?

The weekends are not good, but, if I have gas to make it out there, I wouldn't mind checking it out on a Wednesday or Thursday. That is best for me.
edit: And, sometimes Friday.

Seashore has some pretty nice trails, walking or biking. Hmmm, you could always go princess anne as far as you can and there is some sorta park there also, its in NC. I dont do much nature hunting cause no one else likes to.

I did not hear of your busted thread.
Down Princess Anne Rd., where SantaClawz spoke of, there's a bar/restaurant that sits right on the Back Bay, next to a boat launch. I haven't been there in a few years. Once you get into North Carolina, it's one of the first few things.
