Hi I'm wondering if anyone else out there has run into any similar problems as me.

I am 23, I have DDD 5 herniated discs, nerve root impingement, and sciatica. I am stuck at home 24hrs a day 6 days a week maybe one hour out one day bc of the pain I have and having no medication currently to manage it. I am out of work now and was on disability but then when I was unable to afford the cobra insurance could no longer see my dr. and no dr=no disabliity payments bc I have no dr office notes. My wife works and they say we miss qualifying for medicaid by like $20 or something and now today I was just turned down for ss disability which everyone said would happen the first time. In short resources are running out, I need insurance but private insurance doesn't work bc of the pre existing condition clause. I am basically out of ideas I have my procedures and surgeries set up if I can get insurance but I am at a lost as to what to do.

Thanks for taking the time to read and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Good lord man, is the American system really that cruel!?!? If you can, you should move to Canada. Maybe the wait times are longer, but nobody is going to be left out because of an inability to pay.

I'm really sorry about your situation, I really am. I suffer from chronic pain from nerve/soft tissue damage in 3 places in my spine as well, with the sciatica to boot. I can't imagine trying to deal with it without painkillers, and your situation clearly sounds a lot worse than mine.

I found this website that seems to offer medical assistance and subsidized insurance for low-income family's and person's with disabilities. Maybe they could help you out.

Medicaid/Medical Assistance Overview (http://www.dhmh.state.md.us/mma/Eligibility/med_medical%20asst%20overview_Doc%202/medasstov.html)

Good luck to you. Try meditation some time, I know it helps me. It's nice to have the mental escape, the mental refreshment.

Is the $20 part of your wife's income or resources?

The rules vary from state to state, but I gotten Medicaid denied, and I reapplied when I transferred some of my resources to other family members and got it. It's a real hassle, I feel your pain.

Good luck, I wish you the best

Im sorry about your being sick ,thats def no fun ((

my sister has filed for SSD, 6 times, she worked 20 years before she was stricken with her disease, [spastic nerves],

'dire need' gets approval of any disability money coming in,

its that cruel, yes, sad but true,

IT SHOULD NOT BE THAT WAY! America needs to bend

The gov sure isnt gonna give it to the comatose body, who's gonna cash the check? Dire need! gets approvals

Divorced folk, with dependants, starving, homelessness,
no money coming in, familes living together to make ends meet, gets the attention.

Its a process of trying to get the US government to approve ya, Ive read if you stick with the appeals and such, you get approved, eventually,

You have to b honest like when you want approval move your family in with you,
when you get approved, move them out,

I read a story of a woman, her daughter was talking for her,
she was diagnosed with one year to live, she got turned down for SSD, she died one year later,

NO CHOWDER FOR THE DIEING!

cruel world ((

It took me seven years to get social security and S.S.I. (Virginia's state program). I applied in New York and was turned down there, first. In Virginia, I had to apply twice, also.
