Has anyone tried this, and how do you think it compares to those $10 ones?

oh that will give you a much much more accurate read on the PH. the cheap-o ones will give you a general reading if your using a soil grow. if your using hydro mite as well spend the extra few bucks caus that would suck to see a crop die over 50 bucks. :rastasmoke:

I don't care for the old analog style. Look at the digital that I bought. Just a personal choice. Not here yet, but I am anxious to try it.
This is one I have now that works great for moisture, the ph meteter is not that great but better than nothing.

Spongebob, that first one is (I think) something close to the $10 ones I was talking about, which everyone seems to keep discouraging people to use, and that second one is to test the PH of your nutrient solution. Incidentally, I think that after the shipping on the PH pen, thats roughly, somewhat, kinda almost exactly what I paid for mine in the hydro shop. You should find it quite handy compared to other methods.
So thanks, but that's not what I was talking about. I was interested in something to probe deep into my soil pots. Something that doesn't suck, and will tell me the moisture content and PH.
