I want some of my DNA extracted and my body preserved (frozen) before I die, then launch me into space. [with the small capsule of DNA] in hopes that I can meet a more intelligent life-form.

I'm a registered organ and tissue donor. After they harvest the viable material that is needed from my corpse, I want to be cremated.

I'm an organ donor, too, although there's some question about whether my organs, at least my heart, would be in much demand.

I hope my son and his family, and my husband, too, if he survives me, will do whatever works best for them. If they prefer to cremate me, which I think makes the most space- and money-saving sense, then they can dispose of me that way. If they decide to bury me (which is what I'd choose for myself), I want a green burial. No concrete vault. No embalming. A biodegradable wooden or fiber casket. Nothing artificial that would slow down the natural process of decay or leech formaldehyde into the earth. I'd like to be buried in our family cemetery in Louisiana, where my sister Bess, my grandparents, someday my parents, and our ancestors dating back to before the Civil War all rest. Problem is, it's not a designated "green burial" site, so they might have to get some special dispensation to bury an unpickled, non-vault surrounded body. I'm hoping that by the time I go, green burials are the norm instead of the exception. I hope that either way, whether I'm cremated or buried, my remains will be next to those of my husband.

I want to go through a tissue digestor, be broken down into biodegradable elements, and become fertilizer for a beech tree. I read about it in the book Stiff by Mary Roach- It doesn't produce any harmful byproducts, takes less than a day, and it's relatively inexpensive.

That's right, I'm gonna cling on to life with everything I've got! Not very buddhist of me, especially for a buddhist (lol), but pure enlightenment isn't my goal. And when it comes right down to it, I thirst for the expansion of knowledge, for new experiences, to continue to expand and grow and influence this world for the better in any way I can. 1) I had cancer and I don't think anyone CAN have them.

2) It may be selfish but I don't want anyone having my eyes or lungs or anything for that matter. Ick. Their mine. UNLESS its for my children or my husband.

If you feel you can't move past that phobia then I suppose you will be stuck on that standpoint. I don't blame you, a psychological barriers of any type can be a real bitch, I know. But maybe consider trying to cure this one, because you could benefit a lot of people.

I had hodgekins Lymphoma, stage 3. And its not just a phobia. I am sick and tired of being poked and prodded and sliced and diced. Enough is enough. Ive had enough of it while being alive. I don't want anymore when i'm gone.

Besides, I can't give anything to science or donors anyway since my cancer. I'm not even allowed to give blood. My doctor already told me this.

Ohhh I'm pretty sure your organs could be used for science, maybe even cancer research. But yeah, certainly not donors. Anyway I'm glad you overcame this rather harsh disease, it's inspiring to know people can move past harsh illnesses!:)

Don't get me wrong, for those who choose to donate to science or medicine thats fantastic! I know that more people need to do it. Ive seen kids while getting chemo myself, who needed transplants and blood transfusions. Its a terrible thing.

Also, for those who donate to science, there are some pretty cool traveling museum type things that go to places like the Philadelphia Medical Museum (as seen on Ripleys) that are VERY, VERY cool.

And i'm aware that without donors that very things that make basic medical advances and living couldn't be accomplished. I don't take that for granted.

The only thing i want is to have a "funeral." This wont be any ordinary funeral either, no churches, no preist, no sadness, and no black. I want everyone to where casual clothes and be smoking ganja! Id want a live band with drinks and a buffet and a dance floor. It'd be more of a celebration for my life, then a mourning of my death.
