Opposable thumbs.
On my keyring, i have a little tool-kit key-like thing that is a combination screw-driver, scissor, and utility knife. That thing has come in handy tons of times, mostly for fixing and/or tightening people's glasses or cutting threads or plastic price tag loops.

I've found the GPS system in my car is extremely handy. I don't get lost anymore on our road trips (:o) and as long as I have a name, I can get there. I use it quite a bit.
Also my handy-dandy computer. Information is soooo easy to get these days.

Your lucky your's works lol! Over here our Sat Nav's take us up dead ends, the wrong way up oneway roads, and then we end up 100 miles away from where we wanted.
I mean, sat navs are REALLY meant for the last few roads - the bits you dont know, and THATS where they let you down.
In my experience anyway.
I just stick to my judgment now.
