I started smoking again about 6-7 months ago after years off. For the last 3-4 months, I've smoked daily. It's been during the latter time that I've lost 15-17 lbs. Now, I've never been a "munchies" kinda stoner, usually if I eat after I've smoked, I lose my buzz, (same way when I was drinking), so I learned long ago not to. My eating habits have changed slightly, but certainly not enough to warrant a 15 lb. loss. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this, kinda odd, I know.

BTW, I had a complete physical a few weeks ago--except for a little HBP, I'm fine.

I havent had it happen but i could theorize several reasons why it happened.

The most likely one (atleast the on i find most likely) is that you were relativly stressed and marijuana is the best stress killer in the world (another opinion of mine). Being constantly stressed or frequently over stressed causes the human body to produce alot of horomones that slow down weight loss. Basically our body is like "oh sheet, something bad is about to happen, we need to prepare for it." soon as it stops thinking its in for something wicked it lets you burn calories and fat easier / faster again.

Maybe, the weed's helping you move around more, causing you to lose weight, Miss Cherokee.

I weighed 167 in high school. Whatever happened, I have gained five pounds, since.

I have had the same thing happen to me. After not smoking for years I started about 6 months ago. I have lost about 15 lbs in the last 2-3 months since smoking daily. I was actually getting a little concerned and wondered what was going on. Otherwise I feel good and am eating like normal

I lost 25 lbs the first year I started smoking heavily.
At that time, I also cut back enormously on drinking, quitting entirely for several months, and stopped going out to the bars entirely.
I also no longer have as high a stress level, and no longer get those jittery snack attacks.
Finally, I have succumbed entirely to the munchies and pretty much plan meals and smoking together so that when I have the super munchies, dinner is already on the stove! Let me tell you, it has made my cooking pretty creative and fun!

Christ, you guys actually lose weight while smoking? I did lose weight when I initially began smoking but thats cause I weighed 220 and finally got off my ass and played a season of rugby, went down to 170. But since then smoking only increases both my appetite and weight when I'm in America since I drive everywhere. When I'm in Italy I walk everywhere, so it negates my excessive munchie intake.

Hah, I've lost almost 30 lbs (well, lost 35 and then gained a little back over the last year) since I started smoking heavily - personally, I think the munchies are a myth ;)

Munchies are SOOOO real... omg...
However, a healthy way to lose weight is to snack often and lightly, so it stands to reason that replacing big regular meals with small ones that you eat when your body tells you to would be beneficial.

So... tell me. Are you like my fraternal twin from another parallel universe or something? Seriously. We seem to think WAY too much alike...
