Question to the admins/mods -- why so strict? (read inside)

I've been lurking around here for around 1.5 years now so I know the rules. What I'm wondering though is -- is there any LEGAL reasons why other drugs are not allowed to be mentioned?

I've noticed that whenever another drug is mentioned a moderator swoops in and cleans it up but sometimes the drug is a legal one such as salvia. I feel like as a community of people who use cannabis there will ALWAYS be people who experiment with other drugs as well. As this website is mainly for cannabis, thats what most members focus on and talk about. Other drug talk is just 'off-topic' stuff. It shouldn't be encouraged because thats not what this site is about but I see no harm in these threads to the website at all unless there was some legal reason the site was restricted to cannabis.

I love this site because everyone is so free to speak their minds. Theres no reason for anybody to talk about heroin, crack-cocaine, or any of the other "hard" stuff and it should be closed and/or deleted for stupidity because most people here don't want to associate with those kinds of drugs. IMHO magical mushrooms and other psychadelics are just as natural as cannabis and have been around just as long.

I'm stoned and this has just been lingering in my mind for too long. I don't mean to stress out the mods with another one of these topics and I hope none of you guys take this as some sort of challange to your power.

I think the issue with other drugs is a very touchy subject... I think as a cannabis board, our objective is to promote positive reinforcement of the benefits of pot; outsiders do not see that some peoples' drug use is purely experimental, and it tends to tarnish what good image cannabis activists have been trying to project. If people who are on the fence see that some people enjoy recreational use of other higher calibers of potency, we might lose credability because of the whole 'gateway drug' theory.

And because a lot of the other stronger and illegal drugs can be much more dangerous. Stoners take caution, but sometimes it can go very, very wrong. Also cannacom might run the risk of government intervention if stronger and more serious drug discussions begin to pop up- liability, I suppose.

Even enthenogens, such as mushrooms and LSD can be touchy subjects simply because they can have a much more profound psychological impact that younger members on the board might not be able to handle. I'm not saying they would all go mad, but those can be intense substances.

And crackheads don't have NEARLY enough creativity to start threads such as "Does pot taste green or red when smoked?"

The number one reason is that the owners don't want to have that sort of talk in here. This is a weed site, even though some may do other things we're just trying to promote what we do best.:rasta:

the REAL reason is that this site is actually sponsored by the MGAA (marijuana growers association of america) an offshoot of the tobacco industry that secretly has been lobbying for legalization. through inside information they have found that the prohibitions on all drugs will be lifted in january of next year and they just can't abide the competition.

The bottom line is that this is a cannabis site and the owner does not want any other drug legal or not discussed here, if you want to discuss other drugs then there are many other sites as I am sure you are aware, to do so.
This topic has been discused as stated many, many times it should be put to bed.

Salvia my not be banned yet but some places, for example Bennington VT (yes... a progressive city in a VERY progressive state...) have recognized it as potentially quite dangerous and passed ordinances against it. It's on its way to a ban... And as for extended discussion of alcohol, well, that's not the point of this site either.

We are here to discuss CANNABIS, which we ALL can agree is a safe and beneficial medicinal substance, and a safe recreational one.

Other drug talk puts the site under closer scrutiny. Please take it to sites such as erowid that are dedicated to those substances.
