As many of you may already know Led Zep are performing a one off gig on the 10th of December.
How much would be too much for this guy ?

I only listen to a few select songs these days. Many idolize them, yet will never know that a lot of their material they didn't write themselves, and never acknowledged the original writers. Zeppelin is overrated folks, pure and simple.

I appreciate Zeppelin. "Going to California" is one of my top ten fave songs. I think they are very good musicians. They were successful in improving upon music of others. But to not give a songwriter his dues is wrong, and so is idolizing and obsessing over them. Just sayin', despite knowing that this will not win any friends, and probably send my already plummeting "rep" straight to the depths of hell, but hey, it's how I feel and what I know.

83,000 pounds is just ridiculus.
as far as bein overrated, maybe. but the thing about zep is what they did for the music seen. they are called the fathers of heavy metal for a reason. they may not have been the first but they were the ones who brung the style mainstream. before them no metal band ever sold the stadiums out. if you dont like there music at least apreciate what they did for heavy metal.

By doing so they taught people that they could exploit music and sell it. That lead to all these pussy 'indie' bands that think there hot shit because they sell out said stadiums. The reason i hate them is because of what they did for music, not because there music is necessarly horrible (but its deffinately not all its cracked up to be). The fathers of selling out is more like it.

haha!
thats the most METAL death imaginable.
no just kidding, the most metal death would probably be being impaled by Lucifer's horn during a game of rugby.

Well I got to say Led Zeppelin is an incredible band. I would love to see them in their prime, now...not so much unless they came to my hometown and ticket cost less than 100 dollars. Yeah right that will never happen. The guy that paid that much was probably really rich and probably really liked Led Zeppelin. This whole thing reminds me of the Pink Floyd Live 8.

so much hate on zeppelin, i don't think you guys really know all that much about 'em, "the fathers of selling out"...i don't even know what to say about that. why don't you guys go listen to the soundtrack to the song remains the same. listen to bonham's 20 minute drum solo, page's insane guitar work on the half hour version of dazed and confused, john paul jones on no quarter...i think he was playing a rhodes? plant on everything, then just admit that their music is amazing, end of story, heh.

I think igor stravinsky said it best, "a good composer does not imitate, he steals."

CultureCherryPopper

That has to be the worst quote in regards to music. Stravinsky claimed to be an inventor of music, yet supports idea theft. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, so if you imitate someone, you are either paying homage to them, or at least acknowledging them as your influence. Claiming others' works as your own is the worst thing you can do in music because it's arrogant.
Stravinsky was most liekly advocating stealing ideas like themes or passages, but not outright pieces. Zeppelin did that throughout their career, giving little or usually no credit, unless forced to do so, like acknowledging Anne Bredon for "Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You" after a lawsuit forced them to do so, in the 1980s.
You can idolize the band if you want. I could see that from their musicianship and performing qualities, but personally I refuse to do so. I respect creativity more than performances, and to be a legendary band, you should have that spark to write an amazing original piece.

he is talking about ideas, not whole pieces...phrases...passages, don't imitate them mediocre, steal them 'cause it's great and do your own shit, it's actually an amazing quote, and he was an inventor of music, listen to the rite of spring late at night cranked up smoking a joint, that is pretty intense, at times almost scary, heh, i guess i just don't care to worry about what you're talking about 'cause i just love zeppelin, it's the way it makes me feel, i love it.

Uhm.. You have no fucking clue what you are talking about. I dont think i would even want to see Zeppelin in 2007. Mostly because no John Bonhman and i honestly think Robert Plant is going to kill it.
