You can't. That's a perfectly good username anyway. It's not like you registered under 'schwagGrower' lol!!! :D

Nope, no user name changes are possible. That's not even a function within our system. Your two options are to: a) proceed with your user name as is and find a way to be happy with it, or b) abandon your current user name and re-register with a new user name and email address and start anew under another name. In the case of B, you'll be abandoning your post history/seniority as Toke'n, but that may be what you're wanting to happen. If you do choose B, your posts under your former name will sink into obscurity soon enough.

I didn't realise we are allowed to do that. I'm sick of my username too, I sound like someone out of the 90's show Gladiators. I suppose if you announce to everyone who you are then you still got the street cred if not the rep points...

Or secret option c) send a large cheque to the admins.

Trust me, even with a bribe check/cheque we couldn't do it. If we could, I'd have altered my own name to plain old Birdgirl with a capital B and without the 73 in the first few months I was here. I even asked about it. Got the same answer I gave above. Name-changing isn't a function that's supported or enabled in our system.

Ok thanks BG for the info, i am just on a few other boards where you can get in trouble for abandoning a user name, or having 2 user names. Thanks for your help.

Are you allowed 2 user names? Or do you have to abandon your old account?

We discourage two user names, but we know they exist in some cases. Typically what we prefer to do is have someone who's wanting a name-change and chooses to do that by re-registering with a new identity to let us know when the new identity is up and running, and then we ban the old one to inactivate it.

OK. I was about to create a new account there, but there are a couple of problems with the new registry system. The main bug bear is that you are only allowed a username between 6 and 10 characters, same as the password, I assume that is an error? The new username I had in mind has 11 letters :-( Also there is no option to select my country as Scotland.

Well, I suspect those are bugs, or limitations, that are still being worked out witih the new system. Sundance'll likely have those fixed before it goes live, I'm sure.

Thanks for the attention to this birdgirl (and stinkyattic). Not quite sure what you mean by going live, but I look forward to changing my stripes soon...

Surprising I have to say, usually admins have full control over everything. For example if a name with a profanities is created the admin can change it. But I was joking about the cheque.

I knew you were kidding! Yeah, here we mods don't wield all that much power or control, which is perfectly fine with me. For instance, if we see someone who has registered with a name that contains profanity, our only option is to deny the membership registration rather than change the name itself. Of course, we can also ban that person if he/she has already been accepted as a member, but normally we catch questionable names upon registration.

Staurm, "going live" was simply a reference to when the new, improved version of the forum will be actually up and running with complete, real functionality and with everything connected as it should be. In other words, when the real switch-over occurs and we all interact with the new pages. Right now, it's basically in "test" mode while Sundance tweaks the pages, works out any bugs, and sees what people think.

I know you knew! But because you gave quite a serious reply I assumed other posters may have actually thought I was being serious lol.
