I can across this on Max Yield magazine!
HID SMART 6 (http://www.hydrosolutionz.com/HID_SMART_6_p/hs6.htm)
I emailed them about their freedom tehcnology and got this reponse.
"Our micro-controlled technology breaks up any pattern in switching from light to light. It is programmed to generate a random code and switch all lights within a 60 second time span but will not repeat any pattern of switching for 500,000 years. To answer your second question, this unit is designed for streamlined operation. This means two 12/12 areas, and a separate 18/6 area for the fast turn times. We will have an 18/6 controller soon that will offer a less but effective version of the FREEDOM TECHNOLOGY incorporated as well.
I'll post a review of the controller after i play with it, i ordered a 10 to 20 switcher!

$900.00 for a timer!!! A little steep for me. Good technolegy way over priced.

I read it and it will only work if your running 2 or more flower boxes. Will not help for 18/6 veg cycle.

To add a little more. Only if you are running a extreamly large opperation or a commercial greenhouse would it justify the cost.
then you state save me $750.00. IT COSTS $900.00. I don't see any savings. There is no energy savings unless you are billed by demand and usage as far as I know only commercial buildings are billed that way not residential.
The other thing is that it is a very well worded sales pitch to get you to buy something for $900.00 where as if it sold for $250.00 they would still make a good proffit. IMO.

Well, it saves you the cost of six ballasts. 6x$400=$2,400 (saved on ballasts) $2,400-$900 = $1,500 initial savings + whatever you didn't have to spend on multiple timers.
But, in the long run, the ballasts would wear out twice as fast so...
I liked the part where it cost $400 to install three receptacles but only $150 to install two. That last 3' of wire really drives up the cost of a job.:D

sounds overly technical. spoiled rich people showing me and my crappy spiral bulbs up with fanchy-shmancy electic ballasts, timers, hps and mh for different periods in the same grow......SCREW YOU! :p

What is it lately with new users coming on here and telling large groups of people to get screwed?
FYI, klondike, few of the growers here are "spoiled rich people". Most of us work for a living and budget our money to buy the gear we need for a good grow.

the ballasts would actually last longer, ballasts are designed to turn off and on the way we use them. we turn them on hot and start them up cold. but i couldn't quite get clear how the freedom technology works, i'll have to email them again. but what it does is mask the times for when the lights switch on example 6pm everday etc. this the pattern they are referring to. it is a big issue in the upcoming months and years if you running 5 or more lights

When you think about what you spend on pot, though, suddenly all the gear doesn't seem quite so expensive. Try buying your crop from yourself. Just split it up into 1/8's and every time you take an 1/8 put $50-$75 in your drawer. You'll be surprised how quickly you'll have the money to upgrade your stuff.
In any event, most of the people posting on this forum don't have twelve or even six lights. Many states and the Federal gov't have stricter penalties if you have over a certain number of plants. With the feds it's 99 plants - state laws vary from state to state. But the bottom line is that there's a line in the law and, if you cross that line you just might end up spending a good chunk of your life in prison.

Man, I wish I had some of what you're smokin 'cuz this statement makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. :D

8 lights run now, but i want to use this to upgrade to 16 without having to call an electricial to add breakers and all the other things. I had one come in before and they really hit you hard and its a huge hassle. I already bought a bunch of used hood and some new bulbs. just waiting for the HID SMART to hi stores. they said late december i should be able to buy it in my area.
