I'm about 2 weeks from my first harvest, thanks to a few members who gave me nothing but sound advice from day 1... Palerider, Opie Yutts, Cyclonite... Can't forget the 1000's of informative and useful posts that I read by StinkyAttic and all the mods.

Unfortunately, my biggest plant has turned hermie, 1 little hermie flower on the very top, and a couple more scattered around... I'm a little disappointed. But, I know I have plenty of reasons to be happy. The experience that I've had over the last 3 months (to the day...wet the first seed on August 13th) has been invaluable.

I've always wanted to grow my own smoke...for the obvious reasons... and that my girlfriend can't go 10 minutes without smoking (dreamgirl, btw... 5'9", 120, absolutely gorgeous, biomechanical engineering major/stem cell research intern), we go through a 1/4oz every 3 or 4 days. We've been together for 11 months and we haven't been out of weed for more than 12 hours the entire time. Combine that with the price of $130 per bag.

I'm not complaining, and the obvious still applies. Makes plenty of sense to me... invest 1 months worth of money that we would spend on weed, about $1000, give me a few months...and we'll have "free" weed forever. So I prety much gave up everything I was doing. After I got out of the military I started DJ'ing 3 or 4 nights a week, $50+ per hour, a couple strip clubs a few dance clubs, I was spinning records for 30 minutes a night and making $500 during 1 summer...well, I sold all my shit, let about $5000 of DJ stuff go for $1800...paid some bills, bought a light and some other stuff...and here we are today.

Anyway, growing has turned out to be more than just an interesting hobby. I've registered for school again, I'm 26 years old btw. I have about 80 credits, most of which will apply to my new Plant Biology/Botany degree program. I've been glued to my computer for the past 4 months, reading everything I could get my eyes on (they're a little red from filtering through all the bullshit) and I am absolutely fascinated with plants. Not just cannabis plants, plants in general. I think I could enjoy working with them somehow. No idea how yet, but I have a few years to decide...I'm not looking forward to all that math though...i hate math.

Anyway, this is by no means a goodbye. More of a complete hello and this is who I am. If any of you have studied Botany in college, I'd love to BS if you're up for it.

Gotta check on the girls... and the he/she... and get my ass to work!

Good Luck, Good Grow

Peace,

T

Hopefully you and you girl can put your heads together and engineer the best strain of cannabis known to man. If you ever need anyone to test your smoke, im your man.
Good Luck.

Good luck with your grow.I can relate somewhat to your situation, five years ago I walked away from a well paying job, secure retirement (19yrs,didnt stay for the 20 for a partial)to go back to school.I will be going to grad school in a year or so after a break.I wouldnt trade it for the world.I would have taken a botany class this semester but was a bit worried about the gpa thing for grad school.I will get around it eventually.Close members of my immediate family have serious physical aliments which the weed does relieve.I have had to change my lifestyle significantly to protect myself and my little medical wonders, this means becoming more isolated and pulling back from the social stuff I used to do.In the end is it worth it?I think so,even though the risk are huge, the fact that I can provide my family with the meds they need and have a dollar or two for school/books/food/gas,etc makes it worth it.

I think you will find its nice not having to scramble around to find an 1/8 or what ever. All you have to do is walk over to your fridge, open a jar and there you are.Good luck with the grow and keep us update.Congrats on going back to school, getting your degree in Botany/Plant Science is going to make a big difference in how you view your "hobby" from now on I think.Take care,be well, and most of all be safe.
