I have this amigo who blows glass and makes really nice wooden pipes too. I bought a few CCG pipes from him and he wants to sell me a really sick wooden pipe hand carved with my name and shit on my for about 20 bucks. Ive never had one before and I was wondering if it is good. He always smoked out if this one his dead brother or something made for him and it gives the smoothest hits.
Do wooden pipes need to be cleaned often and do they give better highs then glass ones? What are the advantages of having a wooden one?

they are pourus and are wasteful, you can buy it from your buddy but use it as a ornamental piece not a smoking piece.

not all wood pipes are porus and wastful.
a few factors will determine if its worth smokin out of. mostly what kind of wood and how its carved. for instance pine is definaly out as are most soft woods. look for a good dense hard wood. oak usally dont work very well its very porus. walnut is a good choice or osage orange.
make sure that the hole you toke thru come to the bottom of the bowl not the side. and thats its of an ample size to be clened and not clog to quickly
and $20 bucks for a wood peice is kinda steep unless it is a very exeptional peice

I like wooden pipes. It takes a little while for them to absorb some resin and get seasoned properly, but after that, I think they hit smooth. And it is always nice to have something that is custom made for you by hand from someone you know.

On this:

yokinazu its turn on, tune it, drop out. ;)

It's not tune IT, it is tune IN.

Here's what Leary said about the quote:

"'Turn on' meant go within to activate your neural and genetic equipment. Become sensitive to the many and various levels of consciousness and the specific triggers that engage them. Drugs were one way to accomplish this end. 'Tune in' meant interact harmoniously with the world around you - externalize, materialize, express your new internal perspectives. Drop out suggested an elective, selective, graceful process of detachment from involuntary or unconscious commitments. 'Drop Out' meant self-reliance, a discovery of one's singularity, a commitment to mobility, choice, and change. Unhappily my explanations of this sequence of personal development were often misinterpreted to mean 'Get stoned and abandon all constructive activity.'"

I used to have a beautiful tiny wodden nepalese chillum. I'd do anything to get another one like it but havent seen any in the UK. I never had to clean it once. But take care of it, just because it's wooden doesnt mean it won't break in half if dropped on the floor. As I found out :-S

All hail Leary!

I've always wondered if it would be fun to blaze out of like, a Sherlock Holmes style pipe. I'm sure it would be wasteful, but just to pontificate in that funny outfit would be amusing.

I'm sure Leary won't hold it against you.

Maybe just cover all the bases:

"Turn on, tune in, turn over, tune out, turn around, tune up, turn off. And then drop out."
