Was there ever any doubt?
The fact is that there probably is a global warming but probably not man made. We're coming out of an ice age. I think that would mean we're warming up. I'm not a scientist or a career long politician but I think I can figure that one out.

Then why does every keep saying the ice glaciers are melting? or is it just selling ratings or something? discovery channel has a new show every other week on how the planet is in "peril", because ice is melting up north or whatever.

and disney has their movies with their cute polar bears and penguins i guess to raise awareness cause afterall who wants to think of a polar bear drowning in melted ice water. maybe it just brings in alot of money, am i correct?

global warming is happening there is no doubt. i do believe that in part it is a natural occurance but i also beleive that it is being enhanced or even sped up by the actions of man.
i do know this one thing i can not survive in a room full of exhaust fumes so they are bad. if they are bad for me they are bad for the enviroment.

i dont pretend to know all about global warming hell i know very little about it actually. but i do know that recycling is not a bad thing. clean air is not a bad thing. so why not try and make the changes that will make this a little cleaner planet?

In the 70's we were going through "GLOBAL COOLING" due to the carbon in the atmosphere.

PHILADELPHIA â?? The rise of the Appalachian Mountains may have caused a major ice age approximately 450 million years ago, an Ohio State University study has found.

The weathering of the mountains pulled carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere, causing the opposite of a greenhouse effect -- an "icehouse" effect.

You my friend are right. We should take care of the planet we live on, and treat it with some respect after all it is alive. The problem I have with this whole thing is how they're trying to make the people of the world feel guilty about something that happens naturally just to push some new taxes on us!

Its not about global warming.

I'm going to watch Gore's film, even though regardless of whether it's an inconvenient truth or not the man is a bloody hypocrite. It's true that governments are nearly powerless to do anything about the destruction of the world, and in order to stop the destruction of the environment most of people especially the ones with the guns must becomes less materialistic and more spiritual. I really can't see that happening soon, but eventually we will if we don't all get wiped out by a major cataclysm. What bothers me about all the media fuss surrounding climate change is that it distracts our attention from more local and immediate forms of environmental damage, its not just about CO2, its plastic bags, food miles, pesticides, mono-culture, obesity/diet, everyday social practice. If we want to sustain ourselves we have to radically change our lives, and that could mean sacrificing a lot of things that even I have become dependant upon. Climate change is a natural phenomenon, its always been that way, but we mustn't become preoccupied with questions that we will NEVER be able to answer, such as is it our fault? It might be, maybe there's fuck all we can do anyway, so rather than politics being so burdened with bullshit treaties about how to stop it why aren't we working out ways to pull together so we can survive EVERY possible future climatic scenario, or at least most of them? Because we are too caught up worrying about money and who's got the biggest cock.

Global warming is a fact, although it doesn't mean the world is getting warmer everywhere at the same rate. Certain areas of the globe are hit much stronger than others, and by hit stronger I mean 1-2 degrees celcius. That's all thats needed to really mess things up, its a very tightly balanced system. You might go outside in the winter and think "boy global warming is bullshit" but the fact is it's much much more complex than that. We don't notice it on a day to day basis, between below 20 C and below 21 C you wont feel any warmer, but in some other part of the world in some other eco system the difference between 1 C and -1 C can be devastating. Most theories claim the warming is part natural but for the most part man made. If only the natural warming was influencing the world's environment perhaps it could adapt quick enough to preserve itself, but the fact is with the recent rapid changes the outlook is pretty bad. Feeling guilty about this isn't the solution but the fact is we all are to some extent responsible.

Because the glaciers are melting my friend :-p and that in and of itself is going to cause the planet to heat up more. See the absorption of heat via planetary surfaces has alot to do with said surfaces albedo value (basically how reflective it is) Ice and snow is probably the most reflective surface on the planet. So as the ice and snow melts away it reveals either dirt or ocean, both of which have a significantly lower albedo value and are darker in color (darker colors = absorbs more of the light spectrum = gets hotter faster).

Disclaimer: Im pretty nuetral on the whole global warming thing, i believe its definatly a naturally occuring planetary phenomena but i also believe that man is definatly contributing to speed it up.

You think burning 14 million gallons of crude oil a day does nothing to the environment? Some oil company probably made that article.

John Coleman (meteorologist)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
â?¢ Ten things you may not know about images on Wikipedia â?¢Jump to: navigation, search
John Coleman is an American meteorologist and the founder of The Weather Channel.
Coleman started his career at WCIA (TV) in Champaign, Illinois, doing weekend weather and a local show called At The Hop. He later became the weather anchor for WCIA's sister station WMBD-TV in Peoria, Illinois, and later weather anchor for WMAQ-TV and WLS-TV[1] and weatherman on New York television and on Good Morning America for seven years.[2]

During his time at Chicago's WLS-TV, Coleman was one of Chicago's most popular meteorologists, famous for his amusing and irreverent style. He popularized the words "thorms" and "thowers" to represent thunderstorms and thundershowers.[citation needed]

After founding and leaving The Weather Channel, Coleman became weather anchor at independent television station KUSI-TV in San Diego, California as his "retirement job".[2]

Coleman believes that human-caused global warming "is a non-event, a manufactured crisis and a total scam."[3]

Documents with scientific evidence exist from authorative professors and scientists that clearly prove 'global warming' although taking place, is NOT caused by human beings. Both Corporate and Political organisations prevent these going public, as they disprove the conclusions reached by the IPCC and billions of dollars and hundreds of thousands of jobs would be at threat, not to mention some governments with their 'carbon footprint' and 'green' credentials being used for taxation purposes.

^^^^^Global Socialism right there^^^^^^^

A documentary recently shown on English television (Channel 4) called 'the Great Global Warming Swindle' highlights and confirms what John Coleman has referred to as a 'SCAM'.

People that doubt global warming are braindead idiots with a monetary agenda. In 20-30 years when there is no fresh water, when the oceans have risen 5-20 ft. I want to hear these same assclowns tell me there was no global warming, yeah a guy with a giant hairdryer just stopped by and melted the icecaps, may have been that same mythical religious guy named Jesus, eh.

Al Gore has no agenda? LOL

What do you think Buying carbon credits are? A rich country like our will need to give money to the poorer countries in the name of global warming.

we will need 7 dollar light bulbs, hybrid cars, along with a mess of regulations, that will end up TAXING people that can Pay like Al Gore. While the rest of us slip into the lower class.

why wont countries like China, India, Russia, clean up there act?

why are we not on like 75% nuclear energy? (like France?)

In 20-30 years when there is no fresh water, when the oceans have risen 5-20 ft.

what about Desalination plants?

what about 2-3 degree upswing will be better for crops, thus helping food shortages around the world?

I want to hear these same assclowns tell me there was no global warming

This assclown will tell you all day long....

Med,

didnt i just hear the Antarctica was just measured at a Ice Maximum? It is as thick as it has ever been? Why didnt we hear all about it.

Tell me why NBC was green all week?

OK ill tell you.... The are owned by GE. Hummmm?????

GE does more lobbying then all the oil comanies combined. Here is why, they own all the turbines, and wind power plants. So when the regulations are to be voted on they will show that they were green friendly.

you are brain washed, and i have realized there is no hope for you and people like you. I just hope the some kid that is riding the fence reads some of my posts, and can shake of the fresh brain washing he just got in school, and on brodcast TV, MOve on, Alex jones, and so on.

Peace

Global warming is happening; however I believe it is being used as a political weapon. The Republicans have the fear of terror and the democrats have the fear of global warming. Before any other need, most us put our own safety first.

I don't think that they are questioning whether climate change is real, just whether or not we are responsible for it or in a position to reverse it, also drawing into question some of the political solutions which unmistakably amount to pretty much fuck all.

what if its caused by the sun? the earth absorbs more energy from the sun in one hour than humanity uses in a year. (heard that on discovery) so what if the suns output goes up .1% or 4%?

13 nations have signed on to the "plot" so I don't think it's political. Labs that have run scale models of the conditions both with, and without the CFC's introduced by humans found this: Before the introduction of these propellants in the `70's, the models matched what happened. Afterword, the two models split. Those with the CFC'S (as really happened) showed a sharp increase in the greenhouse gasses, (as really happened) the model where it was not (what if) did not. Maybe we DO have the power to affect our environment!

I also think it's funny when people say we're not destroying the planet because we're "natural animals doing what humans do!" (Hmmm, nuclear war, toxic waste, ozone, war, good stewardship, environmentalists, lawers, Peace Corps... Maybe we can "naturally" make some better decisions, regardless!) :-]
