I am gonna have about 8 plants in my closet, its my first time growing, so what kind of lighting would i need for that? Would just 1 600w do the trick? Also what are good ways to prevent a fire. Since its in an inclosed space its probably going to be a lot warmer. I have about 5 outlets in my room, would plugging different cords into a different outlet help out? or do they all run off the same thing? Thanks

All of the outlets in the room are running off of one circuit, and while it's important not to overload a single outlet, you should never exceed the rating of the room you'll be growing in. I'm sure there are plenty of people who could give you much more detailed information about circuitry, overloading breakers, etc., but you should be just fine running a 600W light, plus all the fans & other utilities you'll need in that room. If you are unable to plug the utilities directly into outlets in the room, make sure that any extension cords you use are thick and rated for the wattage that you'll be pushing through them. I have two industrial sized power-strips (surge protectors) that feed from two different electrical outlets. I'm not sure what the gauge of the power wire is, but it's a freaking monster...and never gets hot. One would be more than enough to run just about all of my utilities, but I use two for good measure.
Make sure that you don't have cords & power strips scattered all over the floor of the area you're growing in. This can be a trip hazard, and can also become an electrical hazard if water is spilled around them. Most surge protectors have slots in the back of them that can attach to screws/studs in the wall. I keep all of my electrical components (ballasts, fans, lights, etc.) suspended as well as all of the correlating power cords & power strips. No mess, and if there is a spill, I simply just mop it up...as opposed to freaking out about whether or not I'm going to be electrocuted the next time I plug something into an outlet. Or worse yet, starting a fire and possibly killing my family. I take these things very seriously, and always make sure that safety comes first...even if it hinders functionality.

Your household breakers should be atleast 15amp maybe 20amp. The amp to watt conversion escapes me right now but thats about 1500W-2000W to a circuit. Remember that more than just your closet is on that circuit. Flip one circuit at a time until you find the one that kills your closet(if there labeled, you got lucky). Then proceed to test every outlet nearby, every light socket and every appliance. When your finished, you should have a good idea whats running on that one circuit. Then just start to add up the watts. Post your wattage on the one circuit and I'll tell the amp conversion.

You should be fine with a few exceptions. In a bed room I have a 1K 400W, 3 fans and washer on the same breaker and about the same on the other. The only thing, with a 600 in a closet you will kill your plants without proper ventilation. IMO you will need at least 200 of CFM to pull the hot air out of the closet, and for my self I would use more than that. I have done a cabinet grow with a 1K in it, so have plenty of experience with growing in small spaces withat venture along with some other cabinet veging along with my current veg closet with a 400W with air cooled hood.
