Can't remember the comedian that did the skit on this.....his repy was, "If I wanted ya to know, don't ya think I would have told ya?".

Have a good one!

The question doesn't bother me when I get it. Dave'll occasionally say "You're lost in thought, baby, and your expression tells me you might need to let someone else in on it," and I know he's wanting to know what I'm thinking if he thinks I'm worrying or feeling blue. Really, I like that because it shows his concern. After all these years, we can usually tell what the other person is thinking just from the expression in the eyes.

I love people who don't feel the need to fill airtime with constant chatter and talk, too, Hilder. Silence is a wonderful thing. If only more people (and I hate to say it, but this is mostly a problem I see in my female friends rather than my male ones) would practice keeping their thoughts to themselves. I've had to completely drop a few friends because they were such incessant talkers. That's very hard to take. Occasionally there'll be guys who're the same way, but I see it more among females.

You could always answer the "What are you thinking?", with the answer, "I was wondering what kind of stupid ass question you were going to ask me next"

But personally I wouldn't do that.;)

I don't mind the What are you thinking question, as its a chance to engage in actual conversation, especially if we have had a falling out earlier in the day, or i'm drifting back into the mindset she freed me from. (overly compulsive, cycling depressive thoughts)

The question that I hate more then anything is. "Whats the plan for tonight" or anything such similar. I've hated that question since high school.

I think its annoying. Why can't you just shut up for a few seconds? just enjoy the silence.

â??Silences make the real conversations between friends. Not the saying but the never needing to say is what counts.â?

And yes I am the quiet one unless I feel like I need to express myself or I'm asked a question other wise its silence from me.

I forgot I even did this thread this morning..but cool with the responses...I love silence between two people..just being with each other and with no need to talk, maybe just a smile:)
Sometimes there is just a time to SHUT THE FUCK UP!!

The hardest thing for me about this question is I am often not thinking anything at all. Then I have to figure out what to say.

That starts a vicious cycle of thinking of what I should say. It is a no win situation for those of us who do not think much.

well its kinda like a catch 22 . . . .

because you could just say nothing if you want to, but those who have something to say will say nothing with a straight face and flat out lying to them. Its tough because its one of those things that could make or break a friendship or more or nothing all ..

That is usually me too..I like thinking about nothing..or just thinking about things that are about nothing..they are just entertaining fillers..plus I am usually so stoned..the weed wipes any thoughts i had straight clean out of my head.

My typical response is:

I was thinking about the status and role of quantitative methods in psychology: past, present and future perspectives. what about you?

Ive yet to have a response other then, "nothing really."

actually, My wife has told me to shut the fuck up already before as I went deeper into quantitative methods of psychology.

Damn dude, psychology is fascinating stuff! This is why anybody I date (assuming that ever happens) must to be intelligent. I don't want to blather on about celebs, doritos, television and the new seat covers she got for her Jeta. Give me biology, medicine, physics, politics, philosophy, psychology, and the occasional planning for the zombie appocalypse! (well, the last one is just what I do with friends:jointsmile:)

hahaha.......your wife sounds funny.............I always answer that question strait and apropriate to the situation, but that answer has come up a couple times, at least. I tell people to shut the fuk up too, special when they get all ranty and run around the answer to their mouth opening in the first place.

Myself2:Bad ass lets do a line..
Myself3:Shut the fuck up yall and take a rip from the damn bong...
Myself1,2,3,: DAYUM!I wish I had some PUSSY right now...

Her:What are you thinking about?

Myself1,2,3(All completly baked say out loud), Gettin some pussy...

and how do you comeback and fix that?

You cant just throw in a "Or whatever... I like cheeseburgers..." to that one....

probably the most irratating question ever asked by either sex..agree?

It depends on the situation.

If I'm getting all romantic with a girl that I'm in love with, it's a really sweet thing for them to ask because it shows that they care, and it gives you a reason to say something that would normally be random (ie. you have beautiful eyes or something).

If I'm trying to do something, and just happen to be quiet in the process, and I'm asked that question...I'm just like "wtf? iono...shit I see patterns and stuff, my brains fucked".

hahaha i like that.

yea, i get asked that all time. maybe because im always thinking. if i feel the person is just uncomfortable with my silence then i just say "no, im just tired from work" or something to that extent.

but if the person knows how I think and honestly wants to know? i tell them. it usually sparks a great conversation.

as for females asking it, yea it get's annoyin when they do it a lot.
