cfl lights help plz

hi there evry 1 been browsing this site for a while now just got a couple of question if any one is willing to help me.
i have a grow space of 1m widex1m deepx2m tall and i wish to grow 4 pants in this space using 250w envirolites could you advise me on how many i would need for a avarage crop.also what would be the best plant breed to start with as it is my first time grow. any suggestions would me much appreciated cheers...

First, your light is too small, you need ideally 600w for that space, 400w will do. Lighting is everything when it comes to growing.
Second, if you start from seed you start with 15 to 20 plants not 4. To get the biggest yeild you need to do an Sea of Green (SOG) style grow you can look that up doing a search in this websight along with many other questions you may have.
Third, what strain you want to grow depends on what kind of smoke, buzz, and yeild you're looking for.
Forth, you need to look into ventalation and odor control before you start also.

thanks for that mate. if i us 3 or maybe 4 of these lights then that will b ok.i am just looking for something that is easy to grow and a bit forgiving to mistakes, i do not have a problem with vetalatoin and odor control i already have that part sorted.do u think i would be able to grow more plants under this set up.

As for the light question I cant really help. I am in the midst of my first grow so would just be quoting people on the forum.

For my first grow I went with Bubblicious (Bubble Gum). After doing some research it seemed to be the best starter seed. Now 4 weeks into flowering I can TOTALLY agree with that statement. She has put up with alot of shit and is doing great! Also the strain tends to not grow to out of control. Perfect for a small space.

Remember that lumens per watt are not the same accross bulb types when planning your garden.

I found this comparison.

Apx 50,000 lumens = 1 X 400w HPS = 10 X 4ft 54w T5 HO = 4.5 X 150w Envirolite/EcoPlus = 42 X 4ft 40w T12 Flouro's = 84 X 60w Incandecent.

WTF does that mean? It shows that you have to burn 600w of Enviorlites to get roughly the same lumen output of a 400w HID HPS setup and 1680w to use T12's!

So, if this is all true then you should be more than fine with the lumen output of 4 of those 250w bulbs however coverage may be an issue depending on how you mount them and what reflector setup you end up with.

What all that means is High Intensity Discharge (HID) lighting is the way to go to get the maximum out of your grow space.

I would Highly Recommend getting a 600watt HPS light and a 600watt Metal Halid conversion bulb that will run off your HPS ballast. Or a 600watt digital ballast that will run both MH and HPS bulbs ( a little more expensive but worth it). Or you can get a 400watt version of either one above ( I recomend 600w due to they put out almost double the lumins of a 400watt for only 50% more wattage [Ex. 400watt HPS 50,000 lumins, 600watt HPS 90,000 lumins]) these are not exact numbers but very close.

I see you live in Europe so unfortinatly I can't recommend where to get Lighting from But I am sure someone here can.
