I'm a big fan of melodic metal styles myself, though I know of few bands. Since you're into this type of music I recommend you check out the Dark Tranquillity album "Fiction".

As for Tesseract:

I love the concept, I think they're definately going in the right direction. However, it sounds kind of choppy to me; the instruments are all doing their thing well, but they don't blend together very well, which hinders the overal feel of the music.
Still, I think once they get a better grasp on blending the music they'll have something really incredible. As it stands, regardless of this issue, they still sound pretty good and I find them pretty enjoyable. I'll definately be getting some of their music and listening to it.

Thanks for the suggestion. I always like to find new music.

Thats what this music is all about, it sounds like its not in sync, but it really is. It takes quite a bit of musicianship to take on such music. It's all about crazy time signatures and having no limits.

I will check out the music you speak of, fo sho!
