View Full Version : Swallowing Smoke?

Ok, so last night, me and a couple of my friends were hitting a couple j's and shit was tight. But later in the night, after I had come down most of the way, me and my bro went to go hit the bucket. I don't know what it was, but after one hit of the bucket, which i could barely hold in, I got SO fucking high. Like, I've been high a lot, but this was the trippiest shit ever, and especially since it was only one hit. Everything got warm, music just didn't sound good, it felt like the synthesizer was a woman singing to me, and I couldn't stop laughing and shit. Eventually, I was like shaking, so I was like, what the hell was in that. So I go back to my brother, and he says I probably swallowed some smoke, and that's why. He said it makes you feel like you're 4-5 times higher or something. Is that true, or what do you guys think?

I don't know if it would make you higher or not. Every time I've ever swallowed smoke, I ended up burping it out a few minutes later.

It sounds like you just got a really nice hit!!! Glad you enjoyed it!!! Gonna go take a hit out of my pipe now...

EDIT: I just tested it. I don't find myself getting higher than usual, and a few minutes after, I burped out the smoke!

Yup, I am a perfect example.

I threw up last night 4 or 5 times swallowing smoke, wasn't fun neither.

he was talking out of his ass. first of all i know it not to be true, but even if i didnt it is simple math. if swallowing smoke got you five times higher, everyone would do it and spend five times less money on it

How do you swallow smoke when youre doing a bucket??? the entire point is to push all of the smoke into your lungs. And no, swallowing smoke wasnt the reason, sometimes after youve come down, if you smoke some more you can feel the effects of your old high and your new high at once, and you probably got a really big hit, which would have made it that much better.

That would be a first, ever.

Would swallowing smoke work like eating it?
I know it wouldn't have been really cooked per se, but would it still become digested if you were able to hold it in?

The stomach is NOT the lungs. THC stops a lot of carciogens entering us via the lungs - and lungs and a stomach are not the same thing. You dont know. I dont know. I dont think they've tested what the smoke does to the stomach. But any smoke in your stomach is not good.

You can either swallow and burp it up, or swallow it in the sense that you close your throat as if you were eating something.

For me, when I started smoking, I would "swallow" the smoke to stop the irritation. Since your throat closes when you swallow, it kind of soothes the irritation. If you're not careful with how you swallow it, you'll compress it into sort of a bubble and burp it up later.

How were you talking down?
1. You told me that the stomach isn't the lungs.
2. You then explained how THC protects the body from carcinogens, which isn't true.
3. And last you told me how you don't think research has been done on smoke in the stomach, but you can assume me it isn't good.

I'm a part-time lab tech in one of the top academic marine biology labs in the country, along with being a biology major, environmental studies minor, heading to get a phd in the near future. There are many people on this site who are smart enough to see through many of your less thought provoking posts. All I (we) ask is that you don't talk down to everyone like you're the authority on everything that ever was. Peace:rasta:

And it appears you're quite touchy with being respected. I think boasting degrees is a sign of pride, and although I don't believe in the bible, I believe pride is stupid.
I think LIP was pointing out common sense, rather than condescending you. All I ask is that you not assume everyone is out to offend your achievements ;).

I'm sorry if it looked like I was boasting. I wasn't trying to do anything other than make a point to the poster that he's not an expert on everything, by showing him that some of us have actual expertise in certain fields. Again, sorry guys, I wasn't trying to belittle anyone or brag.

No worries! I was just mediating :P. We all know a little bit about something, I personally don't mind listening to anyone, expertise or not. We have to listen to opinions after all, since not everyone can produce facts.
On topic now:
Does anyone know if swallowing smoke into your stomach can cause nausea?

Personally, I would say no b/c I've swallowed many a toke before without becoming sick.

Medically, nausea is a symptom of a condition. Often it is a condition that is unrelated to the stomach, for example, motion sickness. THC can be absorbed through ingestion, and thc decreases nausea in most users, so I would say that inhaling into the stomach will likely not cause nausea.

Well, first of all im going to laugh. Hahahahaha!

Now, i dont think your right. You might be, but im sure your not.

Tell you what - if you can prove me wrong, and prove that THC has nothing to do with the amount of carciongens taken in by the lungs, i'll appologise. Untill then i'll think your abit of an idiot.

Dude. The 3 things you listed had nothing to do with "talking down" to anybody. Wtf? Have you ever been to any other message boards? I suggest you do that and then maybe you'll realize that even the meanest posters on this board would be nice guys anywhere else.

You claimed that THC effects carcinogens enterering the body via the lungs. This is a very outlandish claim, and YOU need to defend it, not me. Saying something stupid and following it with "prove me wrong" is about the worst way to make your point.

You're the one[and only one, which makes you wonder doesnt it?] who has a problem with me claiming it. You say it's something stupid - you are stupid, not what i say. And im not making a point. You say it's wrong, and i defend that it's right, because im damn sure it is.

If you think im wrong, prove it; otherwise dont say it, and certainly dont call it stupid.

Calling it stupid is pathetic. Dont do it.

This is the problem, and the fatal flaw in your way of thinking. You have NOT defending it. Saying something is true doesn't make it true. I didn't make the stupid comment, so I don't have to defend anything.

What? At least try and make sense.

I'm not asking you to defend anything.

Am i wrong? If i say THC stops some of the cariogens entering us via the lungs, am i wrong? Is that comment completely false?

If it is, please tell me, and provide a link.

If i'm wrong, prove it.

Last night I threw up my entire weekend because I swallowed smoke.. My friend and I smoked a blunt and I think I swallowed smoke on each hit

My tolerance has gone way down.. When I'm super high and throwing up, its no fun. I could barely make it to my bathroom.

THC does not effect the amount of carcinogens entering the lungs, it effects the amount of carcinogens exiting the lungs. THC relaxes your throat making it easier for the carcinogens in the smoke to leave the lungs instead of being absorbed into the body
