I've looked everywhere for info on floro tubes...can't seem to find what I need.

I have 2 4' hoods with 2 40w floro tubes in each. I've had success with my first half-assed grow attempt before researching anything vital and have 2 females. (YAY!)

I'm looking to build a growbox about 4.5' long by 4' high. I don't know how wide I can make it before I start losing reflective light from the sides.

...and, do I need to swich out my tubes for something else for budding?

For BEST budding, you should consider a HPS light.
As for width, go ahead and make it as wide as you like, and get additional 4' fixtures to just PACK the box with light. It's a pretty simple way to build a vegging box, and runs fairly cool.

so if I hear you right if i'm going 2 feet wide, my best bet would be to go the whole width with the fixtures? (I'm guessing that would be about 3 fixtures)

about how many plants could I pull off with that kind of setup?

Yes.

How long is a piece of string? ;)

I keep ~45 rooted clones in 3" pots under a pair of 4' tube flouros. But I flower in another space. You will have fewer plants, because they will get larger as they go from seed to sexual maturity. Try starting 10 seeds to end up with 6 healthy females.

right now I'm moving to flower with 2 females. I cut the lights down from 24/0 to 12/12.
...it looks like I have buds forming!

If I want to stay with the floros for now, should I change the tubes to give off any different light like with CFLs?
