OK, so I have plants in flower, and daylight savings time is tonight. Turning the clocks back means that my lights will go off at 7 AM instead of 8 AM now. Going off at 8 AM makes it so I can get up, get ready for work, then go down and close the curtain right before I leave for work. If I just leave it at 7 AM, I will have to get up at 6:50 to close the curtain, but I usually don't wake up until 7:30 as it is. My sleep is highly valued. Here are the options

1) Turn it back now giving the plants 13 hours of light

2) Turn it back after the lights go out in the morning so there's 13 hours of dark

3) Just waste 40 minutes of sleep every day before work?

What should I do? Basically, is it better to give them and extra hour of darkness or an extra hour of light in order to avoid herms?

EDIT: The poll should say "During Dark" instead of "Before Dark"

you wont get a hermaphrodite after one irregular hour. it takes a lot more than that to make turn it. youll be fine either way :)

I thought that any irregularity in the photo period had a chance of causing a herm. Like if the light came on for an hour in the middle of the dark period, the plant would likely herm? I think I am going to do 13 hours of dark just to be safe, as some people do a 13/11 flowering period anyways. Unless anyone else has any more input that is...

Anyone?

I leave mine the same all the time on at 12 of at 12 I dont bother to change timer do to all the other clocks, that have to be set just remember at 1pm its 12 and 1 am its 12 unless you do it manually, just my 2 cents.

Thanks guys. The only reason I am worrying about it is because if I don't change it, I would have to get up before 7 AM every morning just to tend to the garden rather than doing it right before 8 AM as I walk out the door to go to work.

i dont save daylight in the gro-den.. its on C.O.T Cannabis Own Time...
go to bed earlier, wake up earlier and do some press ups... adjust ur times in future so that daylight saving effects are minimal on your hobby and only affect ur sleep pattern by 15 minutes or something minuscule. Or time ur harvest in future so that daylight saving occurs between harvests.

Just a random idea. you could adjust the time by 15 mins a day to better serve your schedule. Now that is pure opinion and no science.

About how much do you have to alter the light cycle to cause hermi's guys ?

change it, one or 2 mistakes dont affect the hermie rate. no need to get up an hour earlier everyday during the winter. jmho
