Help out a new Santa Cruz resident?

Can anyone here help me out?

I'll be moving from SF down to Santa Cruz pretty soon, and I'm curious to know if anyone can reccomend good local bands. Anything from jazz, to heavy metal, good punk, or miscellaneous acoustic blends like the Tin Hat Trio from up here. I know this is a bit unrelated, but it seems like lots of stoners have similar tastes in music
(i.e. the ceaselessy astounding Pink Floyd)

check out a local band called "the expendables" - they are relatively unheard of and I personally think they are much better than the popular "Sublime"
