my personal mix isnt measured but i can tell you the ingredients
sphagnum peat moss
organic compost
worm castings
sand
perlite
vermiculite
and medium red lava rock
it drains well and has enough nutrients to get you through about 3 weeks of veg before feeding is required

same as above but no sand, no lava rock. Everything seems to come in a bag to make proper proportions.
1.5 cu ft. of peet moss
40 lb bag composted cow manure
20 lb bag worm castings
small bags (about .5 cu ft) each perlite and vermiculite.

quick question, is it possible my plant is root bound already?
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g88/kevinislandboy/DSC_0286.jpg
and if soo is it bad to change into a diff soil? im using peatmoss and pearlite about 2:1 ratio i kno i kno, not great of soil to use for veg but wanted to mix it up, or should i continue to use peatmoss and add wormcastings and some sort of compost. would this in any way shock the plant? Im having trouble keeping up the PH with this soil. Any suggestions would be awsome! thx guys

u could just go buy some ocean forest. from what i understand that is a good soil that can be used for the whole gro, probably could mix it 3:1 ocean forest to perlite. the ocean forest itself has a hole bunch of good stuff in it already, it cost about 20$ for 1.5' cubic.

What do people think of using
60% promix
35% perlite
5% organic bone meal
any ideas I wanted to try this but wasn't sure if this was a ok mix or not.

I use what stinky recommends in her growing guide, a mixture of humus and manure + perlite, mix them in about a 2 to 1 ratio (humus/manure to perlite), stuff works great for me.

This stuff- Agway store brand bagged composted manure with humus, cut by 20-40% with perlite (more perlite in winter, less in summer).
You can't seem to get it west of the Mississippi though.
If you use compost, it should be GUARANTEED pest and weed seed free.

Here's my mix...
70% Potting Soil (or soiless mix if you're going hydro)
15% Vermiculite
15% Perlite
This mix hasn't failed me yet and it seems to hold water and nutrients better than anything else I've used.
