hey all,

I just bought a new player last night. It is the Samsung YP-K3 model, 2 GB player. I installed their program for my player and want to transer some CD's to my player.

Now the problem is, is when I connect the USB cable to my laptop, the player comes on and says "connected to PC" BUT, in the media program that the player came with, the Portable Device icon won't light up, so I can't select it to transfer tunes from my hard drive, to the player.

Do I have to enable a plug-in of some kind in my control panel? I have been trying everything and nothing works. I checked the manual online and tried everything.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!

you sure the drivers are installled? maybe somehow you skipped through the drivers?

Download firmware Samsung YP-K3 Firmware v.4.06 - X-DRIVERS.COM: eXtremly full drivers portal (http://www.x-drivers.com/component/option,com_remository/itemid,36/func,fileinfo/id,23633/)

download and install that, then try again.

Sometimes I find that my firewall settings interfere when I install new hardware. You may want to disable before you go through your fixes.

Thanks for the suggestions people, but I tried both suggestions and no luck.

In the WinRAR program that I downloaded (slipknot's sugg.), I connect the USB cable, to my computer, and when it says "connect Samsung player" I do, and a sound comes from the computer. When it is a successful connection, it makes a low bell sound, then a high one, indicating complete connection, but when I hook up my player, it only does the one low bell sound, indicating incomplete connection.

Anymore ideas? :)

Hi people,

I finally had enough and smashed it with a hammer. Good way to spend $120. :D

Nah, I'm totally kidding.

I just called customer service, and as it turns out, with laptop computers, is the USB ports aren't strong enough and I need a desktop computer.

How lame, now I must go return this thing.

Anyone know some good brands that will work with laptop USB ports? I'm going back in a couple of hours and want to get something that WILL work.

Damn you technology! Damn you to hell and such!
