 There people who know who J5 and Binary Star are? I am fucking SHOCKED.

Probably my favourites besides those two are:
Won-by-One(Collab stuff)
Sweatshop Union/Kyprios
Abdominal
Dead Celebrity Status
Hed P.E.
K-os (fairly mainstream I guess...)
Matisyahu

And as said before Swollen members, but it doesn't really count as it is pretty much as close to mainstream hip-hop Canada will ever come.

Wow thanks a lot guys,
Lots of great new music I can get now :)
Thanks The Great Benzino, I really agree with you that this stuff is real hip-hop, I'm sick of the industry with bad beats and even worse lyrics.

Also check out Jeru the Damaja

Ah yes, someone mentioned Big L. Too bad he's dead. Big L was definitely one of the best when it came to freestyle and flow.

Even if they are mainstream, they are still dope. They always promote the underground movement. They appear in their battle axe brothers Sweatshop Union's album Natural Progression many times. Always coming back to their roots. In my eyes, Swollen Members will never sell out their souls.

Ah yes! Nas's Illmatic album was one of the best albums, imo. Some of the illest shit I've ever heard... that album was named very well ;).

The only guy I can think of that hasn't been mentioned is Del Tha Funkee Homosapien. He's the guy that raps on the gorillaz albums.
