outdoor growing question

is colder weather hard on the plants or will it kill them?

i live in NW illinois
it is getting a little cold..

You would have to wait until spring to grow OD. The cold where you live could be a problem around harvest time, but you could get some nice buds.

I guess this might now be a outdoor growing question.. Is there to much shade??

General rule of thumb....The more light the better, but I have seen plants grow in mostly shade.

I live in the mountains of east Tennessee- have had 3 frost and a hard freeze this week- i am growing a sativa a 14 week strain- i have built a frame around garden and throw a sheet over each night- my target to harvest is November 12th on my birthday- pot can take the cold if you have the right strain

yes it can, my two love potions are still out(well... half of them anyway...) they turned a deep maroon-purple, looks good...
