First grow under envirolite

Hay, this is my first grow...... i`ve started off 6 un-feminised nivan "ice" plants in a soil about a week ago and was given 2 lil ladys from a friend. Atm im useing a 125w envirolite for the veg stage (as to poor to run hps right now). hopefully i will have access to a friends 400w by the time i`m ready to put them in flowering. anyway my main question atm is, is 125w enought light to get my plants throught the veg stage?:)..ohh and how far away from the light should the lil ladys be?:rastasmoke:

i have my 250watt cfl about 2-3 inch away amazing results

got em under 400watt hps now but there getting 2 big

is that crisply leaf tips in that pic? apart from that looks good

The last baby poped up early :) hope it becomes a fine woman ;) the temp is staying around 28 atm which i think is a lil bit high? i havent fitted an extractor fan yet but have cut four wholes in the box 2 at the bottom and 2 at the top. rekon thats enough for now? i`ll put some photos up when there a bit more action happening.

28c is a bit hot try for around 20-25

umm..... we can learn togethere haha:jointsmile: i got rid of the troth and repotted the plants befor it was to late :) the temp is still to high around 28-30 :( but that my fault as i havent got a fan yet but they seem to be doing good. there is soom good growth on the 2 larger plants whih is good as where a bit sick when got given them.

when sould i start feeding the plants, im guess not yet..... but in a week?

90 degrees F ain't too bad as long as you keep the hydrated.Definitely get a fan for air circulation and to build nice strong stems.Looking very good.

cheers for the feed back got my extractor fan fitted today and dam is it noisy :( ,going to take awhile to get used to the noise when sleeping. just have to smoke a fat one befor bed i guess:jointsmile: but the temp has deff dropped so cant complain

Hay all i havent updated for a few weeks because i been updateing my room :). i got ride of the envirolite to make room for a better light with a real refelector it is lower wattage but gives better light coverage(110w) . I have cut my room space down a litle because i have lightproffed my grow space. i done this by building a frame just inside the doors then takeing velcro to it. then cutting a peace of millar the right size and stiking it on. a small amount of light still shines through but bairly noticable :D

I now only have 1 of the origanl plants which is doing well under the new light. I also have 1 seedling of about a week old and 8 cuttings from a seprate grow at a friends house. this is the first time i have taken cuttings and will be happy if 4 root any extra will bea bonus :)

The temp of the room stays around 28-30 still even with the extractor fan fitted but i think that is because the roo where the cab is stays quite warm. guess ill have to pump air into the room when i get a more power full light. i was going to use a 400 w hps light for flowering but i am worried about the temps i will get in such a small room. i was thinking about getting an air cooled reflector to reduce heat and as i have an extrator rated to pump a much larger room at another grow im hopeing for the best but in worse case ill have to settle for a 250w hps (hope not still poor).

as i have awhile to wait for my main light back i have decided to start off a few uttings and mothers.
so far i have 2 "ice" plants 1 is a seedling and 1 is about 3 weeks old and doing well. i also have 6 "hempstar" cutting. i have used clonex rooting gel and some root riot blocks (abit like rockwall cubes). They have been cut for 5 days now and no sign of root but 3 are starting to look healther. whichim takeing as a good sign :)

my plan is to grow 2 plants to maturaty in a stagered growth so that i harvest 1 plant a month for personal smoke with some kind of scrog to utalize the limated space i have. the plants that i grow are going to have to be short liltle buggers due to the lake of hight on the cub.

so if any of u have any sudgestions on short plants strains would be cool???

Wooot,2 out of my 6 cutting have finaly rooted took them 8 days and im hopeing rest will show roots soon :) 1 of the cutting died think it was a bit small to root.

The 2 older plants are still growing well. i topped the tallest oneto sea what happens. haha.will it bush out or make 2 main stems from the top nodes??

well i have 5 heathy cuttings now wooot :) they all have new growth im going to wait a week or so to sea which are the most healthy as i dont have much room in the veg room.
i might be getting some visitor for a few weeks around christmas........8 hempstar ladys about 1 month into flowering. cant wait but means i got to build the flowering room earlyer then i thought and larger then it was going to be as i was only going to make it big enough for 2-3 plants. ill post a few pics off these plants with the update shots.
The two "ice" plants are vegin away i have started to tie up the topped older plant to get as much light to the side suits as pos it seems to be resonding well :) hopeing to make it into a bush while i wait for the 400w hps to be free. im leaveing the younger plant to do what it likes to what it does.
the younger "ice" plant is showing yellowing of some of its lower leaves should i starts nut`s? i think is still a bit small

hay peeps..... i thought i would update as im a bit board atm XD

not alot has changed since last time i have retoped the older "ice" plant and it has responed realy well with it side branches almost streching to the top of the plant as intended and seem to be over it shock peroid.
i`ve bought 2 oxi pots in preperation for my light being returned to me. i thought this would be the easyest way of getting into basic hydroponics and for the price i ant complain only 15 pound each with pumps pot and clay balls.....result :). i`ve also ordered my cool tube reflector so now all i need is my bloody ballest.
The 5 "hempstar" cuttings had a bit of a bad turn when the room got to hot due to a prob with the fan (not being on) and crispifide a few of the top leaves im shure they will pull through but was a shock to come home to lol. the younger "ice" plant seems to bedoing well and as not shown anymore sighnes of leaf damage since i started feeding nuts.
i`ve manged to get the temp`s down quite a bit in the last week it is stable at about 26 now when is is sealed up which in my book is perfect :)
i got some new photos of the hempstar plants that my clones came from which ill post jst for any1 that likes to look at plants in flowering.....they look nice.. haha

cheers dreamer and 50ul for your comments. Yeah there is a bit of yellowing on the lower leaves but its from a few weeks ago i think it was nute burn. They sorted them selves out after a flush. The p.h. run off was 6.8 so that kinda ruled out ph probs. :)

`ello just thought i would update because i have begun to lst the smaller "ice" plant. this is the first time i have tied to train a plant. should be fun to play with and nice to be able to compaire the results of the 2 ice plants as 1 has been toped and other lst`ed.
The cutting are still recovering from the heat damage but have got new growth.
The toped plant is starting to get bushy with several of its side stems reaching above the new growth where i toped the plant origanaly.
I got a question...... how long from seed to plant in 24 hr light does it take a plant to reach sexual maturity and produce preflowers?? and would it be a good idea to switch to 18/6 to help them show sex??
The oldest of the 2 "ice" plants is 6-7 weeks old but still not showing any signs of sex as far as i can sea. it has started to smell a lil bit. is that a sign that it is starting to mature?

Any help would be great :)

well ossian i had my sour d plant show pre-flowers on 24/0 on Day 26 from seed...When i use 24/0 my plants always show perflowers...well it works for me

cheers soul so i guess mine are just late showers:) i had a proper look at the older plant last night with a magnifing glass and i think i saw a few femail pre flowers but im only about 60% shure thats what they are. ill c if i can get a photo over the next couple of days.would be grate if at least of of the ice plants are femail as they are so nice and short. which is perfect for my grow space.
my cool tubes arrived to day....woot. i cant wait to get on with the flowering, i cant wait the month till my light comes back. ill just have to make do with playing around with them in veg. ill try to get photos of the preflowers over he next coupleof days when they hopefully develop a bit more...... peace...

hay peeps i got a problem with my other plants.The 8 hempstar plants that are about 3 weeks into flowering are showing alot of yellowing of the leaves. i would expect some yellowing but there is far to mh by my reconing. I dont think it is nute burn tis time as the higher leaves are showing no signs of yellowing. so it could be just that the plants have decide they dont need those leaves. but there is so mainy any way i might just be worrieng for no reason her are some stats on grow temp`s ph and other stuff:-

Ph: water befor feed 7.3(around 8 befor adjusting), run off 6.8
Temp: lower canopy 24-26 by top of plants 26-29 (depending on weather andtemp of house)
Humidity: 35%-60% (upto 80% if washing is out to dri haha)

if any1 got any idea`s or advise i would be realy gratefull for it even iff it is just to say dont worrie. :)

ill update on the regular grow soon.

p.s hempstar smells like grapefruit when it is growing any1 know if it tastes like grapefruit?

hello :). i rebuilt my veg room into my grow room finaly,woot. i got board of waiting for my light so bought another ballest, cool tude, fan and all the other bits and bobs. so i have a 400w hps in a tiny cuboard. so as u can guess i been figting an up hill strugggle against heat. so i have a 6" inline extrator fan running the cool tube and 2 bathroom extrators and a fan to move the air around. With the doors shut it still reaches around 33.....ouch.... with the door slightly open it goes down to 28 ish. with the doors completely open it goes down to 23 ish. so im guessing i just need to pump more air in :( , but with any more fans in there there is going to be no room for the plants haha.
I have also lst`ed every plant i have to get them ready to flower them im oly going to do 2-3 plant to maturaty depending on the sex of the older ice plant and it still has no preflowers. the younger ice plant has shown defenate signs of being femail. so i know that i have got atleast 1 ice femail....woot :) and im going to grow 1 hempstar plant aswell. with the temps being to high it has ruled out doing any hydropoics for awhile till i can sort out the temps or move to a new flat with a larger space to use. which is a bugger as i had already bought the items i needed :(. ill post some pics of the new grow area when i have taken them.

Any sudjestion on how to get the temp down would be great.

well i`ve ordered another 6" inline fan should come soon,i dont think i coul live with the doors open all the time but the cost of the ventalation for the grow room is getting stupid. Just the fans have cost me at least 160 pounds :( i just hope it is the last thing i need.

Bowl will help a lot with humidity, it's recommended as a trick for controlling hum. if you are an indoor cultivator :)

well i thought i would update again as im going to throw my plants into flowering tomora hopefully (if fan arives). Thought u might want to have a look at them befor they go wild :)

over the last 3 days they have had a lil growth spirt and are loveing the hps, but the plants stems have gone a bit red which i read can happen if the plant are exposed to extrem temps or some thing :( . hopefully it will all be sorted when the new fan arrives. There are no burnt or wilting yet though so it cant be to bad.

im kinda wishing i went with a 250w witch would have been easy to keep the temps down with but i know if i can get the 400w to work ill get much better results. i just didnt think it would be as much of a problem........i`ll know for next time :)

dude, i'd keep to envirolite's for all vegging. i dumped all other lamps in favour of these. From cuttings under a 125w, up to the plants under 2 200w lamps. You cut quite a bit of time of your grow cycle and get far more stems with these lights. found them a bit naff for the flowering stage though as the plants still need a small amount of veg light in flower so you end up using 600 - 800 watts worth of light which proves uneconomical compaired to a 600watt hps. had exceptionally good results by using both, plus your hps bulb lasts longer. nice plants by the way.

hay all hope ya all had a good christmas. :) I had a good one but spent hal te time worrieing about my cutting. I went home for the holidays was only ment to be there for 2 days but got stuck there for 4 :(. i got back and they looked pritty dead apart from 1. i realy hope it pulls through otherwise im going to loss the strain unless i pull 1 of the bigger plants out of flowering (not realy an option).

i got some good news though the older ice plant has finaly shown sex after 10 days in flowering and its a........ GIRL woot. Thats 100% femail plants this grow. It`s getting a bit cramped in the cuboard all ready though, makeing it harder to carry on lst`ing. ill prob just let them do what they want soon or put up a scrog. so far i got a nice even canopy. which im quite proud of as this my first atempt at lst.

as i stuck my plants into flower about 10 days ago i had to bill another veg room for the mothers and cutting`s. i found the perfect space..... under the sink haha. it stays nice and cool in there 21-23 without the fan on and 24-26 with fan on. There is plenty of space which is great as i plan to colect a few strains of plant ( my wish list).

im still waiting on the last fan for the flowering room, the twat on ebay is tacking his sweet time to deliver the thing but after i tried my fans in verous position i got the max temp down to 30-31. which i can live with till last fan comes.

sup peeps, i thught i better give an update as it been awhile and quite alot has happend :).......

well i guess ill start with that hempstar is a dam nice smoke :) me and my friend have harvested our 8 hempstar plant`s. It`s quite a citracy smell with a smooth smoke and a strong stone that lasts for hours ....wooot. Not bad for a first grow, it`s gaven me alot of ideas for my current grow and genral know how. some1 said to me every time u grow a plant your knoledge of how the plant works and what it wants doubles. I cant wait to sea what im growing next year lol. :jointsmile: we think we got about 7 ounce`s dry but well never know for shure because we harvested 2 plant a lil early and smoked most of it befor was dry and had to split it etc....but i well happy .:joint1: .ill post some pics of the havest later.

Out of the cuttings that i took from the ice plants only 1 pulled through from there christmas ordeal . It has good root growth though and has been repoted. As for the rest of the veg room all is well im going to be takeing cuttings for the next grow in a few day or so to start off the hempstar plants and ill use the 1 ice plant for the next grow aswell. i want to try a scrog for my next grow so i better get the next set of plants going soon. im hopeing that 1 and a half months should be enough veg time to fill the space completely.:rastasmoke:

well heres the flowering room update.The plants are um... 21 days into flower now and seem to be doing great. i havent had the nute probs that i expirened with the other grow. so the plants look a bit healther then befor. :) The flowers are realy starting to take shape now but im not shure if they should be bigger for 3 weeks gone..... I realy havent got a clue as to what size they will get. This is the first time i`ve tried to lst so all i can do is hope for the best. The 2 ice plant have realy taken to being lst`d and have filled up most of the space with similar sized buds. The hempstar plant has`nt liked it quite as much but that could be because it is a litle bit younger. Also it seems to favoir it main colia more then the untoped ice plant. im still waiting on that bloody fan from ebay ordered it on the 17/12/07 so the wardrobe is still a lil bit hot 28-30, it does`nt seem to be harming them but im still learning.

if any1 anything in the pic that dont seem right with the plants please tell me so i can fix it :)

every thing seem to be going well atm. I tested the run off from the plants they where all a bit out.so i ended up flushing which they seemed to like there clean soil now :). They have had a lil growth spirt over the last few day. The ice plants have started to frost up already leaveing the hempstar plant to shame. haha.
