I don't care what anyone says, it IS possible to be addicted to weed. I mean even if its all in the mind, then I am most definitely mentally addicted. But it's like I can't even eat anymore unless I smoke. It's to the point that I have to force myself to smoke to even eat. And I always have to smoke atleast a bowl before I go to bed or I'll be up all night. Anyone else like me?

you aren't addicted lol.. if you made yourself stop smoking, you could quit.. you wouldn't be feinding for it or anything, having withdrawl symptoms if you didn't have it.. it would just take a couple days of getting used to, that's all

I dont know man i used to think i was addicted to weed but then i stopped for a quick break (week) and i figured it was all in my head, its hard to quit cuz youve basically worked it into you daily routine, so your body has to replace smoking with doing something else try doing something productive for me it was instead of a bowl at night, it was a short story or something interesting to read to stimulate the brain, trust me after you stop for one day everything is just easier, like i said you think you need to smoke but in reality you dont need to weed is not addictive, if it was you would be doing anything to score your next bag lol and i mean "anything". read the other post like this its all in your head, replace smoking with reading, cookin, washing dishes, chores something just dont smoke work itout of your daily routine.....i hope this makes sense im not high but im pretty sure its hard to uinderstand.

You're right ^
I found that I don't feel the need to smoke weed if I'm not bored. Of course, I'd still like to, but it's not anything like when I'm bored.

Marijuana is not physically addicting, however it can be mentally addictive.

Weed has no physical addiction potential whatsoever.
However, one can become psychologically addicted to ANYTHING!
I also cannot sleep unless I hit a bowl or 2. I have insomnia, you prolly do as well.
I would recommend you cut back to smoking only before bed, just like 1 bowl before bed for a week or 2. This is what I do when I need a tolerance break, but cannot afford to lose sleep and be unproductive.

I totally agree. I have fought insomnia for years. When I was younger I had times when I would go 2 or 3 days with out sleeping at all. Boy was I relieved when I discovered this sweet green leaf. I mean don??t get me wrong it isn??t the perfect answer to insomnia but it sure helps. Most people find it is their minds and not their bodies that betray them when they are seeking a restful nights sleep. I know that is certainly my problem.
It is true you can become mentally addicted to ANYTHING
I would much better be addicted to THC than some sleeping pill that you don??t really know what the long term side affects are!!

It has been scientifically proven that it is NOT PHYSICALLY addictive... But it IS MENTALLY addictive... Its all in your head...
I don't eat without smoking any more I dont sleep well without it. I dont do many things that seem like they should be easy to do without smoking.
Point being just smoke and get over it or stop doing it and after like 4 or 5 days you will get used to it...
And and people who say you dont "crave or Fiend for it" thats a load of bullshit if I ever heard it...
When I dont have t for like 5 days im searchng the house for lil bits of nugs that fell off stems anything that is smokeable truthfully...

It's only psychologically addictive, ie: no physical withdrawl symptoms. If you're gonna be addicted to anything, at least it's the safest drug consumable.

This topic gets so old. Most of the above people have stated so clearly that it is only in your mind.
I have been stoned longer than some of you have been alive. I am currently dry and have been so for almost 2 months.
I sleep when I am tired. I function normally. I contribute to society. I pay bills and taxes. I do not go into convulsions.
I love pot and would prefer to be stoned all the time. But I can function fine without it and so can any one of you.
Now in a month or so I will be stoned all of the time for months on end.
Do I want it? Yes. Need it to function? No way in hell.
If you what to know what addiction is I suggest you hang out with someone who is going through real withdrawal symptoms from drugs that are not weed.
I have seen people vomit for hours wile shaking and can hardly pull themselves out of their own barf. I have seen people go into convulsions and fits.
You have no idea what addiction is.
If you are that weak that you think you need it to survive, you need to quit right now.
Do not confuse your lack of self control or will power with addiction.
Grow up and take some responsibility.

Bro I know what you mean. Fuck the people that say you can't get addicted just coz they don't do it like every hour and they aren't addicted because of that. I can handle a day or two without it, but I end up just thinkin about it so much..Like 24/7.. I know what you mean about eating too, if I'm about to have dinner I'll want 2 go for a smoke just so it can taste a bit better..If I want to tidy my room I'll wanna have a smoke before so I get in the mood..Shits just so much easier blazed!

Its mental addiction. Just because there are no physical withdrawal symptoms does not mean you aren't addicted. If, as you said, 'you think you need it to survive', I wouldn't say that was such a big personal weakness, I'd call that addiction.

At worst the original poster has a psychological dependancy and certainly not an actual addiction, they believe they are addicted and may even feel they have the symtems of an addict but it is all in the mind.
It is down to a dependant nature and lack of willpower.
The worst drug of all to be addicted to is alcohol , a long term alcoholic can actualy die from the withdrawl.

maaan, if you think you are addicted, your addicted. one of my buddies used meth for a month, hes the most hardcore guy out there, i told him he was addicted and he said nah fuck that shit, he quit using meth forever the next day. i mean its all in your mind,if you think you can do it you can. i dont know about you but id feel pretty pathetic if a fucking plant conqured me.

You aren??t addicted. You just formed a habit. Do this, have no weed in the house and do not buy anymore. If the next day you are vomiting up your guts, cannot walk, cannot think, have a massive headache, and want nothing in life, but a fat blunt then you can say you are addicted. No withdraw = no addiction.

How many of you here have actually BEEN addicted to something.....physically?
I have.....and as far as I'm concerned those (unknown american and rebgirl) who walk around talking about "self-control" and "willpower" strut around proudly talking crap and telling everyone else how life is done OBVIOUSLY don't have a clue. So you've seen addicted people unknown american? Whoppee! I'm so impressed. How about doing it yourself before you decide what is what for everyone else?
I have. And it cetainly wouldn't occur to me to walk around telling everyone that in order to solve their drug issues they should just "shape up."
This place is REALLY going downhill.

As a former case worker for addicts I am was there when people went into withdrawal.
I have seen what it does. However the post was about weed which is not physically addictive.
Perhaps you will read what I said before you make judgements on me.
Weed is not physically addictive.

Guess I must be stupid since I dont see the word PHYSICALLY anywhere in your post.
Yes....if you had CLEARLY stated physical addiction I would have agreed with you.
But if you are a caseworker who does not believe in psychological addiction....then I'm certainly glad you are not mine.

I stated in the first paragraph that it was only in your mind (weed smoking). Seems like mental addiction to me.
I stated later the physical symptoms of physical addiction from other drugs. Is that simple enough for you?
My post was clear enough.

Please look the word ??addiction? up in the dictionary. You will find that saying ??Psychological addiction? makes no sense. Psychological addiction is just a phrase that people use to group weed in with cocaine and heroin. He has a minor habit not an addiction. You can form a minor habit with anything. It isn??t the substance you are using that is addictive. I??m kind of shocked that I am on a pro-marijuana forum arguing this. Next week am I going to be arguing that it wasn??t the weed that caused you to snort the line of cocaine?
Bottom line is, it??s irresponsible of you, someone who obviously (I??m going to assume here. Tell me if I??m wrong) supports the legalization of weed to use misleading phrases. That??s what Psychological Addiction is, a misleading phrase.
Having actually been addicted to a real drug its insulting hearing some guy tell me how his weed addiction is ruining his life. If you believe weed is addictive on any level you really have no clue what addiction is and I would welcome you to test it out with real drugs.

damn people. for those of you who can barley eat or sleep without marijuana, i have one thing to say.
DUDE GET A LIFE...i am def a heavy smoker, but herb is not the end all be all. 2 suggestions that would prob help some of you out. 1, EXERCISE! work up a sweat go for a run, play sports, swim. if you do this your tolerance will go way down
2, GET LAID! use your instincts and hunt your local area for some tail. meeting new people and getting some strange on the side is so much fun! get nice chicky at your place who is begging you to hit it hard and make her scream. what are you gonna say 'no thanks, thatll kill my high. i dont think so, im stressed out, i need to get high i have a headache waaaaahh' lol
exercise and sex will produce more dopamine, serotonin and various euphouric chemicals in the brain. your tolerance will go down. you will take bigger hits. you will always have a steady appetite and metabolism.
sometimes it can be a kind of mindset you get into. couch mode. been there, so i know what you mean. usually all you have to do is just go out of your comfort zone a little, just like other things in life.

Marijuana has no addictive properties. Yeah, you can get addicted, but only because it's so awesome. I've been dry for about a week and I'm looking to be dry for about a week more :( I look forward to the next time I'm going to get high but it's not like I'm feeling pangs for it or anything.
