Alright, who else here is into doom?

Bands like

Electric Wizard
(Greatest band on earth in my opinion. Dopethrone and Come My Fanatics are masterpieces, loaded with the most badass, heavy bass riffage ever, and I consider Jus Oborn to be the greatest guitarist ever, as demonstrated on Come My Fanatics. People bash Let Us Prey and We Live, but they're both fuckin' amazing albums, and their newest, Witchcult Today has them returning somewhat to their older stuff, it's loaded with awesome riffs from start to finish. Listen to Come My Fanatics! Best doom album ever)

Boris
(I don't know where to start with them... Ultra heavy and ultra talented trio that have amazing range, from stoner to drone to ambient to post rock to punk, guaranteed to trip you out. Check out Dronevil and Heavy Rocks)

Black Sabbath
(They need no intro but I'm gonna do it anyway. Fucking brilliant, classic doom at it's best. These guys founded the fucking genre! Paranoid has some of the greatest and unrivalled guitar work courtesy of Iommi, amazing riffs and solos from start to finish, and their self titled first album is almost just as good)

Witchcraft
(A great new band playing some of the grooviest retro-rock/doom I've heard in a while. They've dropped three albums, all consistently amazing. Vocalist sounds a lot like Plant, and they have a pair of awesome guitarists)

Ufomammut
(Tripped out, ambient, psychadelic, droning doom. This shit is a unique and rewarding listen)

Trouble
(Check out Psalm 9, fucking brilliant album with some legendary guitar work)

Om
(Not so heavy, but oh so incredibly groovy and great to chill out to. Bass/Vocals and drums from Sleep, both guys are supremely talented and make some truly original tunes. Haven't been able to get a hold of their newest album yet, but of the first two, Conference Of The Birds is by far the better)

Reverend Bizarre
(Operatic, powerful, original vocals, and an awesome bass player. These guys make EPIC doom, listen to the second half of III: So Long Suckers)

Earth Flight
(A kickass new band, they really know their doom and have an awesome vocalist. They have only one long EP out so far)

Acid King
(Haunting vocals and badass guitar from Lori S., and a great drummer. Busse Woods is some super heavy, badass doom!)

Sleep
Men In Search Of The Perfect Weapon
The Obsessed
The Sword
WitchFinder General
Sons Of Otis
Saint Vitus
The Hidden Hand

...By far the greatest music genre to listen to stoned

Thanks man, and yeah, I'd really appreciate that album, I've been dying to hear it. I was gonna say that in a pm, but I'm really baked right now (Trippin' to Not Fragile by Bachman-Turner Overdrive, such a badass, heavy, groovy album!) and can't figure out how it works

Spirit Caravan
Earthride
Wretched

Yeah, I've gotten some Spirit Caravan recently but haven't gotten around to hearing it.
Earthride and Wretched I've never been able to find.

Amplifier Worship all the way

Ganbou-Ki never fails to get me trippin'!

A really dark, intense, spacey, scary song to check out is Ivixor B/Phase Inducer by Electric Wizard, on the album Come My Fanatics, check it out!

Shermann, who does bass and vocals for SC is the lead man of both other bands, neither of which got as popular as SC. My band played a show with Wretched last year.

Those guys define "burnouts". they were some of the funnest guys we've ever chilled with. We chilled at their hotel and had some killer Blueberry that they brought

Come my Fanatics is their best in my opinion. For those of you who like heavier shit check out Grief, Corrupted, and Khanate.

If you just send an IM to me I can send you that new Om. Or you can just do a getfile, I've got plenty of music to browse through. Take what you please!

electric wizard is the shit. i liked their first studio album best the self title. itt was just like slightly heavier drawn out sabbath. no yelling on that one. i love come my fanatics and dopethrone. i really dont like the second guitar in their music though and havent liked their newer albums. i really want to hear the new one. come my fanatics has two of their best songs in return trip and wizard and black. some of the heaviest shit ever put to tape. id like to see them do a live set at stone henge

witchcraft also is that shit. i dont really know anything to be said that hasnt already been said. retro as hell if you dont like music from the seventies you wont like them.

personally i love sleep and think matt pike is a god of the genre. dragonaut is heavenly sleeps holy mountain is one of the best stoner metal cds ever made.

saint vitus born too late is so smokin. tune low play slow. i was bornnnnn. too late. and ill nevvah be lik you. man that song is so epic.

i need to hear trouble and acid king i have heard they are awesome bands. sword is ok a little overblown in my opinon. reverend bizarre is downright bad to me and give reason to further subdivide the genre because like them or not they sound nothing like electriz wizard etc

Candlemass (Sweden) is far the best in this genre. They are considered as the founders of Doom. Saw them once and it was great.

you want to go that far back, sabbath are the fathers of doom, end of duscussion. this isnt like when people say there would be no rock music without the beatles or led zep. sure there would. there would be no doom without sabbath, that includes candlemass. not a bad band though at all

I'm fucking excited, I heard some really great news a while ago...

A supergroup has been formed with some of the greatest musicians in the doom field, and this group is the kind you'd dream about happening

Shrinebuilder
Wino (The Obsessed, Saint Vitus, The Hidden Hand, Spirit Caravan)
Al Cisneros (Sleep, Om)
Chris Hakius (Sleep, Om)
Scott Kelly (Neurosis)

I've been gettin really into Doom/Sludge lately however admittedly Im still somewhat new to it, and dont know that many bands... However I do like

Pelican (fucking love them)
High On Fire (love them as well)
Mastodon (not sure if they fit into doom, but they fucking rock regardless)
Isis
Jesu
Sleep is pretty sweet from the little of what I've heard, I should get some of their stuff since I like High On Fire so much, and it is Matt Pike's former band is it not?
Boris was pretty cool from the little of what I've heard been meaning to pick up Amplifier Worship
Electric Wizard I've been hearing a lot about and have been told I'd love them
Sunn O))) Ive listened to a little of, different but pretty cool
Khanate Ive been meaning to look into as I kinda like the stuff on the Hydra Head label

Make sure you don't stop there, because they have a lot of variance and if you don't like that album, there will probably be at least one you'll like.
