I agree, reb. Cardboard hurts and is so uncomfortable. I don't see how you couldn't want plastic instead.

Plastic. I tried cardboard because of the whole biodegradable thing, but they hurt, and they leak.

definately plastic. i tried the cardboard tampons once and it pinched my skin and it took very careful maneuvering to get it unstuck and it hurt like a motherf****er.. OUCH!

LOL Reading this thread makes me feel like I have a cavernous pussy of doom! I've never had trouble with cardboard applicators, and I use the super absorbency size.

All the conversations Ive heard on the subject are pretty much about how they hate tampax for that reason, its all about the gentle glide.

Which is why I was so confused when I saw Tampax's new marketing campaign... NEW! CARDBOARD APPLICATORS!

Like... Ive never used one, but... I thought that was the OLD shit.. lol.

Cardboard doesn't hurt, but it just doesn't make for as sturdy an applicator as plastic. Tampax tampons themselves have an inferior design, if you ask me.

My vote goes for plastic. Playtex Gentle Glide regulars are my favorite.

.

They do have a crappy design. What's with the damn things getting longer when they get wet? :wtf: I've actually had them extend down and partially out! If that's not a design flaw, I don't know what is. That's the part that hurts.

Yeahhhh... that was my ex's other main concern with em. Said it hurt. I dunno. Gentleglide just SOUNDS more comfortable lol.

I recall when I first met aunt flo in the 70's

It was during school in the seventh grade

came home and wrote my mother a note
the said note, was then sent by way of
my lil sister "to, give to mom"!

lil sister said, "Whats it say"?, "dont worry about it! 'was my reply"

mother then came to my room door, opened it and said, "well I guess your a woman now!,"! she then shut the door! that was it 'no pad for me', nothing! but tissue !

I was dumbfounded she never told me! my friends did,

why do people struggle with the mense thingy? its human natuer!

I did better with my dauighters at age 10, they each got a little box for when aunt flo came to visit them, they have fond memories of the little boxes, I gave them,

have a great halloween gals!!

ps

they have Hemp pads!

we know what those are made from !!

wink wink ~~

I got my period a couple of months before I turned 10.. my mother gave me a book.. IN SPANISH explaining what it was and how it worked, then she went and told all of our neighbors, my aunts and uncles and my stepfather.. why she felt the need to tell everyone is beyond me.. actually now that i think about it, she made fun of me because of it.. bitch.

Hahahahaha that would be fuckin hilarious. Shit, the situation would be funny enough with the dude just sportin a tamp-vest, but I think that would be icing on the cake.

THE KEEPERĀ® THE MOON CUPĀ® Manufacturer, Home Office, Distribution Headquarters (http://www.keeper.com/)

Best. Invention. Ever.
I recommend the latex one (The Keeper) as the silicone one (The Moon Cup) tends to leak more.

Another vote for menstrual cups. Tampons are just a way of making a shitload of money out of women every month, and they tend to remove the protective mucus from the inside of the vagina and make you more prone to thrush.

Exactly! Think about how much of our waste comes from wrappers and applications, not to mention bigger boxes, then you have to wrap the bloody thing in enough toilet paper so no one figures out what it is and so it doesn't seep through. Personally though I only used(I'm on Mirena IUD, no more periods) tampons on my heavy day, the others were light enough to just wipe when I used the washroom. I would probably invest in a reusable hemp pad now though, just in case.

I'll add to that I cloth daiper my child by choice because I feel guilty for the enviroment when I see how much extra trash there is with diposables. And I'm a house/weed wife, so I don't leave the house much, and what's the point of wearing panties if they just get dirty with or with out a tampon. I never get to sit down anyways I'm so busy, lol.

I don't have a preference, I buy whatever brand is on sale, haha.

Using my nuvaring, I only have a period when I want to though, and it's awesome. I've skipped up to 4 periods at a time with no spotting, and got the a-ok from my gynecologist to do so. :hippy:

None now!! lol! Plastic with applicator grooves (Playtex); Cardboard was painful and slippery when wet! Tried OB no app. for my very first tampon as teen; Passed out!

Applicator over none any day, hate to get my fingers in more than necessary, could cause infection, even if every precaution taken! Plus, don't want anything else under my fingernails! :)
